nadine was really not a big fan of her own house, but one of the few upsides was that the roof was really great for sitting and laying on. at the moment, she was sitting up there with kenny. she’d texted him over and over and over again until he’d finally agreed to show up, but now, they were just sitting there together, quiet falling between them. it was rare for nadine to actually just shut up and enjoy a moment.
at some point, her hand ends up finding his. she’s been thinking about doing it since they first got up here, but it took a little bit of courage, and a little bit of ignoring the consequences. still, she’s met with his thoughts almost instantly, an overwhelming loneliness that might not have specific words, but just a specific feeling.
“hey... kenny?” she finally breaks the silence, voice gentle. “i’m really glad you’re here right now.”
