Elias, tell me about Jonathan Fanshawe. What was he like?
ELIAS: Ah, the question is harder to answer than I’d like.

bless u for this
HE TRIED SO HARD and dressed up and probably just strutted up to knock on the bastille’s front door like ‘OH my apologies I seem to have lost my way entirely and you’re handcuffing me now well that’s very inconvenient indeed whatever shall I DO’ and he went to all this TROUBLE and then crowley shows up dressed like THAT and he doesn’t get the hint???? I bet aziraphale was so put out he even briefly considered giving up on the crepes
Sorry to bug you! But my brain has been consumed by the idea of writing a study of Jonah Magnus and his experience with the fears, and I was wondering if you had good resources for writing about the Georgian time period for people who know very little about it? I want to give this my best effort, and you're the best person I can think to ask for recommendations. And I am absolutely in love with your work!!
I AM VERY HONORED.
Also I’m going to invoke Jane Austen-related-things three times in this ask but WHATEVER...
Jane Austen's England by Roy and Lesley Adkins is a book about georgian/regency lifestyle that’s super readable and has a lot of quotes from primary sources.
If you want something free but can be kind of overwhelming since it has SO MUCH stuff, this wordpress is very good and very organized.
Also...I feel like one can drive themselves mad trying to make sure language is Absolutely Period Accurate and I’m of the maybe-unpopular opinion that ultimately one doesn’t need to strive for completely period-appropriate language when writing for a modern audience BUT this thesaurus / word processor is very fun.
