Thoughts on Jimmy and Kyle?

Thank you so much for your ask!! I love Jimmy, Kyle, and their dynamic, so I have many thoughts.

Jimmy

Jimmy is definitely one of my favourite characters simply because he's very real and complicated. He tries to be good, but he struggles. I think Jimmy really struggles to trust other people because of some of his childhood trauma. There's a part of him that constantly believes everyone wants to hurt him. He doesn't believe that anyone would be kind to him without an ulterior motive, so when people do something that hurts him, he assumes it's personal. The fantastic thing about Jimmy is that his past explains a lot about him, but isn't used to excuse his actions. Jimmy doesn't ask that his actions are excused because in his mind he's a bad person and deserves nothing. This is obviously not true. He's broken, but not evil and definitely not beyond repair. Jimmy actually wants to be a good person and as the season progresses, we definitely see character development as Jimmy works to become the person Kyle saw. I know he said he wanted to change for Karen, but I actually think it was more for Kyle. In case it isn't already clear, I headcanon Jimmy as bi and I absolutely ship bishlins.

Kyle

Kyle is an actual angel. Specifically, he's Jimmy's angel. I wish we had seen more of Kyle apart from Jimmy just because I love his character, but I guess it is what it is. Kyle is the type of person who makes everyone who meets him want to be a better person and try harder. He believes that people can be good. We don't know much about his past, but it seems like he has a loving family. I do think he probably struggled with bullies as a child. He's fairly timid, but can stand up for himself if it becomes absolutely necessary. He puts up with a lot of Jimmy's crap, but will eventually stand up to Jimmy. Even though it isn't always obvious, Jimmy is incredibly strong. He's kind and empathetic. He know what he wants and works hard for it. Still, I think he's grown to need Jimmy just as much as Jimmy needs him. If Jimmy were the one who died, I absolutely think Kyle would've dedicated everything to Jimmy's legacy.

Bishlins

As mentioned before, I ship Bishlins. However, there are definitely issues with the relationship that make it potentially abusive. Jimmy has a lot of problems I think he'd need to work through before he could be in a healthy relationship. Also, I don't think it's healthy to need someone the way Jimmy and Kyle need each other. So there's a lot of potential, but I'd want to see them work through some of their issues before they started dating. That being said, I love their dynamic. It's obvious that Kyle loves Jimmy and, whether or not you think it's romantic, Jimmy definitely loves Kyle. They bring out the best in each other and encourage each other to grow as people and artists. Also, they will both defend each other when no one else will. I like to think that if Kyle hadn't died and the show wasn't canceled, Jimmy would've eventually realized he's bi and they would've gotten together.

I was going to include more headcanons, but this post is already so long. I might make a separate post with headcanons and tag you. We'll see. Anyways, thank you again for the ask.
