Apparently I have a lot of Nicolas Cage feelings, because I had a FEELINGS ATTACK when I read this.

He's not a bad actor. He's bad sort of the way William Shatner is bad; as a friend of my mine put it, "nic cage is a great actor when he feels like it, and he's a fun as fuck actor even when he doesn't." I mean, I had a long, long post, but it boils down to: he's not unintentionally bad, which is the same as he's not bad. He's not trying to be good and failing. He's intentionally whatever it is that he's doing, and whatever he's doing (including and often especially being cheesy, hammy, campy, crazy or otherwise over-the-top) is usually the correct choice for the moment. Can you imagine someone trying to play his role in, say, Con Air as if it were a srs bsns role? Exactly. He's actually just awesome.

I just love Nic Cage, okay?
