“Watching ‘Come Sunday’ movie on Netflix on a Sunday night.” by Shawn DeRay https://link.medium.com/3SceEgbiL3
Watching #ComeSunday movie on @netflix based on the life of #BishopCarltonPearson. I found it interesting how the death of his uncle & tragedy of #RwandanGenocide was catalyst for spiritual awakening/"Come to Jesus" moment in his life. Through the experience of loss, grief, empathy, God spoke to Bishop Pearson, inspiring him to change and challenge the status quo of an angry God sending everyone to Hell. It reminded me of the untimely passing of #KobeByrant and how it was a catalyst for #girldad and so many fathers, inspired by the legacy of the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter, posting on social media about their daughters and legacy. Whats what's special about this is that men were openly expressing their pain, grief, and emotions and being vulnerability despite our society saying men can only express their emotions through aggression and violence. Kobe and his death inspired a legacy of change and challenge the patriarchal generations miseducation, helping redefine what is fatherhood, and legacy. I didn't know much about Kobe. I'm not a big sports fan. I read one of Bishop Pearson's books before and enjoyed it. I dont know either of these two men. I suck at basketball. Nor Im not a preacher in a church. Yet, I recognize there is a connection between the three of us and for that matter, everyone on this Earth. And I think that connection is to give each other hope, in some way. #foodforthought #mindbodyspirit #ComeSunday #RIPKobe (at Plainfield, New Jersey) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8FNUVuHnEk/?igshid=grboe9v6ktch
