Bit. Trip Beat Review
BIT. TRIP BEAT is the Pong of the modern age. You play as the famed Commander Video and you basically play Pong to make music. Sound easy? It’s not. It’s one of the hardest and most addicting games I’ve ever played. It is also by far one of my favorites.
Graphics
8-Bit never looked so good. The game is styled like retro games such as pong but with ad 3D twist. While the paddle and blocks are 2D the backgrounds and stars are 3D. It creates an interesting effect and it doesn’t screw with your eyes too much either. The starry space background is filled with gorgeous colors and it all molds together beautifully.
Gameplay/Sound
If you’ve ever played pong, which come on... everyone has. You’ve played this game. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though. Each block you hit with the paddle makes a beep. Each beep has a pitch and they all mesh together into a song. The better you do at hitting every brick, the more complete the song will be. It’s a cool formula and the songs are all very long so the fact that there are only three included isn’t much of a hindrance. The songs are all really good and pleasing to the ears. They get progressively harder and this game is extremely challenging. The iOS edition is the only one to include check points and while you don't necessarily get to see it on the big screen the check points do definitely make the game better. Also, it’s easier to play the game with headphones on iOS and that is greatly recommended.

For $.99 you get three songs. Three very long songs. I think the game is worth it but you may want to try the free version Bit. Trip Blitz which includes the first song. You can also buy song packs from the other Bit. Trip games which are all also very good, long, and fun. The game is extremely hard which may turn off some players but since when has a little challenge been a bad thing?
