There weren’t many places in the mall Ian would call himself a regular at in the mall and one of the only exceptions he made to the no shopping rule he had in place. He wasn’t much of a shopper and now that he was coming down from the holidays he had little to no desire to do any more shopping. There was a dent in Ian’s pocket and he was making it a goal to cut spending until the new year... the plan alone made him sound like his grandmother and he shuddered at the thought. Her influence still rubbed off on him. The purchase he had to make today was a necessary one however. As much as he liked having a kitten in his apartment the small creature was beginning to show he could be a terror if left unattended. The latest victim of the ferocious feline? The bedroom’s phone cord. He’d gnawed a hole almost completely through the thing before either of his owners caught him in the act. 

Since communication was important Ian decided to pick up a cord on his way home from the arcade that day. He was in the middle of perusing various accessories before finding an employee conveniently near the phone cords. “You don’t happen to have any banana yellow phone cords in stock? I bought a phone here a few months back and my cat chewed through the cord and it’s toast,” he explained his plight.
