"It doesn't look that hard," Corey commented, spectating from a picnic table that was set up on the edge of where most of the food vendors were - in the perfect spot to watch people playing carnival games while they ate their food. Corey was focused on and speaking about the water gun race game in particular, watching person after person attempt to be the first to fill up their clown's balloon with water shot through the open mouth. "I mean, it's not exactly skill, you know? You just hold the trigger and hope that you're the one with the weakest balloon."

He took another bite of his hot dog, and he turned to Eden with a smile; there was a hint of mischief in Corey's eyes, and the smile soon transformed into a cheeky half-grin, half-smirk. "I totally think I could win, what do you think? Unless you think you could beat me, of course." He wasn't going to force Eden to play - Corey had never been the type of person to force anyone to do anything - but the light-hearted competitive spirit of the carnival was so very contagious.

Noelle nods." Yes, you." They glance around them as well, mimicking her actions." Smart! That way it will last longer, don't be like me." The witch turned their gaze to the now finished cocktails on the table. They gesture to the bartender asking for two more, the last one for themselves, or so that was the plan.

They hadn't noticed the sketchbook at first, eyes lighting up as they saw it." Do you draw?"

" So-" Alice starts clapping her hands together. enthusiastically." What do you want to do today? It's friday night and my evening is wide open! I'm expecting us to have a fun filled evening, you don't know how much I need this." She sighs a bit too dramatically just to make it obvious." I just need a night to forget about work and everything else."

While Corey had certainly gotten used to dealing with so many customers each day at work, it was always a nice surprise when he was needed out back to count, organise, or ready stock; it was a much needed break from constantly fumbling over his words speaking to customers, that was for sure. Having finally finished an entire shift out the back of the store, Corey finally emerged into the humming fluorescent lights, the soft shuffle of the elderly woman at the register being the only sound cutting through the still air.

He took a moment to stretch his back and tell his manager that he was clocking off before he headed off to grab the few items he needed before heading home. As he scanned the aisles, his eyes landed on Eden near the frozen foods section, studying a box of frozen vegetables as if it were a life-altering decision. Corey grinned, stuffing his hands deeper into his pockets as he walked over, his boots making soft tapping sounds on the linoleum floor.

“You sure that’s the best brand?” he teased lightly, leaning against the freezer, his tone playful but genuine. “I mean, I’d trust the produce aisle more than frozen veggies. You ever notice how they taste like nothing? Like someone just froze disappointment,” he gave a little shrug, still grinning, hoping to make her laugh with how dramatically he spoke. Maybe it was an overused joke, but Corey wasn’t above playing it safe when it came to keeping things light between them. "It's good to see you," he greeted his friend more formally. "How're you doing?"
