Do you know why like all homestuck fans have this theme (or redux) (or something similar)?

I have a lot of theories and models i've thought up around fandoms and the tumblesphere but i'll keep it simple.

i really enjoy analysing fandoms and fandom behaviour on tumblr btw so this is a bit long and a bit hideously detailed so sorry

the homestuck fandom is very isolated generally (many fans are primarily exposed to the fandom). it's a really interesting fandom actually, quite unique. actually, as someone who transitioned into the fandom it's very different from other fandoms on tumblr. many of the graphics have a very similar style, the art has a lot of minute variation but is actually quite similar too. even the blog styles seem to be similar. 

essentially, i think, what the homestuck fandom has is a micro blogosphere where a few famous and influential blogs dominate most of the blogging "market". i think it's from here where much of the similarities stem, if they have a certain blog theme people are likely to copy. also this theme works well with text posts and pixels as a sidebar (pixels are popular in the homestuck fandom due to users like feastings making a large amount accessible to the public).

i'm going on but i could literally write essays about this.

nowhere else on tumblr do you find a fandom as isolated and as popular as the homestuck fandom. this kind of activity happens on a small scale usually (eg: cabin pressure) but homestuck is unique as it is a difficult and time consuming fandom to join which means it's extremely inaccessible to people who haven't read it. the regular updates and resulting fanmixes/fanart/fic/roleplays/jokes means it's less likely a homestuck blog will ever need to go find a different fandom as hiatuses are small and can be filled with back logs of content. i'd go as far to speculate it's the most self sufficient and contained any large fandom on tumblr is ever going to get.

anyway i've gone on far too long but yeah homestuck fandom is interesting and i could talk about this literally all day
