Bitron (VRAINS Episode 66)
Requested by @maindeckdeathtoymonsters, thank you for requesting this, I appreciate it a lot, enjoy!
Bitron ———————————————— 'A new species found in electronic space. There's not much information on it.' ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Starter Deck: Link Strike (YS17-EN001)
Normal Monsters overall work similarly compared to each other besides of a very scarce differences. While traits like Type and Level will give them certain interactions with some themes, if a Normal Monster is not entering into battle is most likely that will be used as material for other creatures. Even though in a time where every Duel is dominated by Effect Monsters, Normal Monsters still have a quite prominent purpose no matter if is taking a strong field pressence or simply assisting one of many setups by cheap resources.
"Bitron" is one of the debutant monsters of the new Cyberse Type, but besides that trait there's nothing new to offer due being a Normal Monster. With a high DEF "Bitron" at most will be a decent defense to rely on during early turns or work with some unusual strategies with it. But obviously as a Normal Monster, "Bitron" is in a great position as material for all sorts of setups and summons which includes its very own debutant Type.
Although Cyberse is a pretty new Type to have several options compared to others, combined with the assistant of Normal Monster support makes "Bitron" a highly supported card nonetheless. Combining both themes we can start games with cards like "Enchanting Fitting Room" and "Rescue Rabbit" summoning several copies of "Bitron" at once, to the Normal Summon of "Draconnet" letting us summon this monster from our hand or Deck. If we focus more arround Cyberse monsters some of their effects will only require "Bitron" to be in our hand, so we don't need to hesitate on using searching effects such as "Painful Choice" or "Lady Debugger" among many others to have "Bitron" at hand. Like any Normal Monster, specially one with low stats like "Bitron", it will obtain a massive support in late game by all sorts of revival effects. From monsters like "Junk Synchron" and "Cyberse Gadget" bringing "Bitron" back from the Graveyard by their own summons, to cards like "Swing of Memories" and "Tri-Wight" assuring its return along other monsters, "Bitron" has some extras due its Type but is not that different to other Normal Monsters of its kind.
Even though part of a brand new Type in the card game, the purpose of "Bitron" is not that different from many classic or other recent Normal Monsters. With the many summoning options from early to late game available, "Bitron" obviously will focus on assisting our Extra Deck summons and even Tribute or Ritual Summons in some particular builds. Normal Monsters have it easier than any other kind of creature when comes to Link Summons, as a single "Bitron" alone can bring out creatures like "Imduk the World Chalice Dragon" and "Link Spider" to follow with an even bigger summon using their respective abilities. Cyberse monsters support each other no matter if are on the field or our hand, giving "Bitron" and the few other Normal Monsters of this Type an unique purpose almost no one can replicate. Monsters like "Backup Secretary" and "Boot Staggered" will Special Summon themselves by the pressence of "Bitron" on the field, while other Cyberse such as "Bitlooper" and "Linkslayer" will only need this creature in our hand to activate their abilities. And while the goal of Cyberse Decks is to prepare cheap Link Summons together or with "Bitron" alone, we shouldn't hesitate on expanding our options with cards like "Dragon's Mirror" or the mentioned "Junk Synchron" expanding our Extra Deck options in late game.
"Bitron" is a good example of a Normal Monster having exclusive interactions by the Type that belongs to make it more unique from other cards of its kind. While can work as efficiently as many other Normal Monsters thanks to the big card pool arround them, Cyberse offers further options that can go from staying in our hand to coming along monsters like "Cyberse Gadget" and "Draconnet" for our setups. Obviously as almost any Normal Monster "Bitron" is completely dependant of other cards and effects to stay useful from early to late game, specially due its poor ATK not giving it many options beyond being a cost for other effects and monsters or depending on its DEF in tough scenarios. Probably once Cyberse gains more cards to catch up with other Types the options arround "Bitron" will increase even further, but right now is in a good position to assist its own kind as well other setups needed.
Personal Rating: B-
+ Solid DEF + Highly supported by both Normal Monster and Cyberse cards
- Poor ATK - Relies on other cards and effects
