If anyone was curious what I do in my spare time, I do art, I write, and I browse tumblr, but I also spend a lot of time volunteering with BITSS (the Boston International Turner Syndrome Summit), and this video that just got finished just. Makes me very happy?!?!?!

My philosophy class watched part of a Mitch Albom lecture where he talks about creating a meaningful life by giving yourself to others, and this work—even though, as someone without TS, I don’t participate in the program itself—means a lot to me. So yeah :3

Also it’s Turner Syndrome Awareness month, so to all the TS folks out there (ladies, gents, and otherwise): HELLO, I am AWARE, and I think you’re GREAT!!

The Boston International Turner Syndrome Summit is an eight-day summer program for teens with TS. The mission: bring together people with TS for fun, enriching experiences that foster independence and community.

In order to make the program accessible to as many as possible, BITSS is raising money for a scholarship fund. I’m not much of a runner, so 5Ks aren’t really my thing, but I do make art quite a bit, so here’s the deal: you make a donation to our GoFundMe campaign, send me a screenshot of your receipt, and I will draw/paint a person or character of your choice!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Turner syndrome, happy Turner Syndrome Awareness Month! You are about to become aware!

BITSS provides an exciting opportunity for young individuals with Turner syndrome to come together each summer for a week of friendship and exploration. We will be expanding the age range to 11-21 for this year’s virtual session only.

oh my god I was just in a board meeting for my nonprofit and just

hearing about how our president called the recipient of a scholarship... and how happy they were... they were crying and jumping up and down with joy/relief, and now they can stop ignoring their granddaughter’s calls because YES YOU CAN GO! i’m so happy to be part of an organization that can make someone jump up and down for joy

I’m in a conference call board meeting for the Boston International Turner Syndrome Summit and in the middle of I get an email from someone asking if we still have spots open!!

Needless to say, it was awesome timing for an awesome email. Especially since I never get those emails since I’m just the webmaster!

And yeah— we do have spots open :3

BITSS is an 8-day summer program that brings young women with Turner syndrome together for fun, enriching experiences that foster independence and community.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but I’m the webmaster and a volunteer for BITSS, a nonprofit running a summer program for teens with Turner syndrome. BITSS is sponsored by the Turner Syndrome Society of the United States.

I have a lot of faith in the women on the board-- two of which have TS-- and I believe in their mission to make an event run by women with TS for teens with TS.

Please let anyone you know with TS or anyone who knows someone with TS about BITSS so they can help someone have the time of their life next summer!
