Character: Thor
Summary: you meet a god in real life but he’s not the saviour you think.
As usual, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I’m happy to once more go on this adventure with all of you! Thank you in advance for your comments and for reblogging ❤️
“I wanna tell mom!” Joanie blusters as you flip the pancake.
“No,” you argue. “Joanie, please. It’s… complicated. Adult things are… we haven’t even gone on a date and he’s… Thor.”
You sigh and twirl the spatula nervously. Her giddiness stirs your own. You can’t lie, not even to yourself. Even after Thor left, you couldn’t stop thinking of him. You replayed that kiss over and over. And he sent you a good morning text that only made the stirring in your chest worse.
“And he loves you!”
“He’s… interested.” You counter. “You’re too young to be so worried about my love life.”
“But mom says you must be lonely. She’ll be happy.” Joanie argues.
“I’m not lonely,” you frown. “She says that?”
“Well… she said you deserve to have someone. And if she knew who–”
“Alright, I think you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself,” you put the pancake on the awaiting plate, with another, and put it in front of your sister. “Please, Joanie, let’s keep this a secret. Just between you and me. Just for now.”
“But–” She begins then pouts. “Wait! You know, Thor could be my brother if–”
“Pinky promise!” You stick out your pinky. “Joanie, no snitching.”
She puffs and drops her shoulders. “Alright.” He bends her pinky around yours. “I’ll keep it a secret but we both know he loves you!”
“Stop using that word,” you can’t help a giggle. “Just… chill.”
She rolls her eyes and untangles her finger from yours. She sticks out her tongue and you pour syrup over her pancakes. She grabs her fork.
“You also can’t tell mom I put chocolate chips in the pancakes,” you warn.
“Oh, I definitely won’t,” she bounces and slices into the stack with the side of her fork.
The knock at the door nearly has you spilling the batter. You put the scoop back in the bowl and go to answer it with spatula in hand. You open it to find Thor beaming at you with a tray of paper cups. You sigh.
“You’re back.” You say.
“I didn’t sleep!” He booms. “But if I did, I would have dreamt of my princess.”
“Your princess?” You flutter your lashes and scoff. “Alright–”
“Is that him?” Joanie cheeps.
“Eat,” you call over your shoulder then face Thor.
“Yes, mine. I only need to win your hand. As Asgardians do. First, I present… one of many gifts to come. A butter toffee latte.” He waves his hand around the tray. “And donuts for all.”
“Oh boy. She’s already getting chocolate in her pancakes.” You tut.
“Flapcakes! My favourite,” he grins. “Fair princess, must I plead entrance on my knees?”
He as good as pouts at you with his sparkling blue eyes. You can’t deny him. He brought food and you have manners. Besides that, he looks wonderfully cozy in his blue grey sweatshirt and jeans.
“Alright. I’ll allow it.” You open the door wide and let him in.
He struts in victoriously. You shut the door and offer to take his goodies. You leave him as he unties his boots.
“Thor!” Joanie greets as he enters.
“It is a bright day, Princess Joanie!” He chimes. “No whipped cream for the pancakes?”
“Don’t give her any ideas.” You warn as you set down the tray and box of donuts.. “Would you like a plate, your majesty?”
“Thor sounds wonderfully on your lips.” He insists. You shake your head. You pour the batter in the pan. He approaches to wiggle a cup free and sets it next to the stove. “You must tell me how you like it.”
“I’m sure it’s great.” You assure him.
“Thor,” Joanie pipes up. “Is your brother still evil?”
He snorts as he claims his own coffee and turns to her. “He was never evil. He was simply going through a phase. You see, the second millenia of an Asgardians’ life is especially turbulent. Very hormonal. I’m afraid I may have collapsed an entire galaxy myself when I went through it…”
You make a face at the pan. It’s hard to truly fathom that this… being who looks so young is as good as ancient. Or that he’s from an entirely different planet.
“Oh. I’m sorry. I wasn’t being mean–”
“Oh no, Loki has earned his reputation in Midgard. I hope his new wife might turn him around.” He intones. “Though I’ve yet to meet the lady. I’m sure she’s a delight.”
Your mind reals. He said something about a blood sacrifice in his culture. You wonder about that poor woman and what might have brought about the marriage. Who knows? Maybe she’s into that.
Joanie hums. “Thor. I’m going home today.”
“Home?”
“Yes, back to mom,” you flip the pancake. “So we’re saying goodbye with chocolate chip pancakes.”
“But it’s a secret.” Joanie whispers. “Like you.”
“Me?” Thor wonders.
You tisk. “Joanie.”
“Well, if it is a secret, I shan’t tell it,” he lowers his voice. “Though I’d rather yell it to the world.”
“Hoo boy,” you mutter. You glance over at them and raise your voice, “Let’s just get through breakfast.”
⛈️
“I’ll miss you,” you hug Joanie. “Be good, okay?”
“Safe voyage, Princess Joanie,” Thor chimes as he scoops her up in a hug. She squeals and wiggles in his thick arms. “I promise to keep your sister safe.”
She giggles and he puts her down. You smile as best you can. You really are going to miss her. The apartment will be emptier.
“Don’t give mom a hard time. I’ll call tonight.” You promise.
The train attendant approaches and you pass over Joanie’s bag. They offer a chaperone service for minors so she won’t be riding alone. You watch as she’s herded over with a group of young travellers. Your stomach flips.
“You are sad.” Thor says quietly as he crosses his arms. “I miss my brother the same way.”
“Of course. I wish… I wasn’t so far away.” You sniff.
“I hear it in your heartbeat how much you love her.” He nods.
“You hear… my heartbeat?” You face him and put your hands over your chest.
“Ummm, I suppose it isn’t a Midgardian thing…” he grins.
“Can you… stop? It feels… intrusive.”
“I can try but… you see, when an Asgardian is attracted to a prospective mate, they cannot help but become entirely in sync with them. They can hear their heartbeat. Or beats, depending on the number of hearts they possess. They can sense their body temperature; oh, I knew an ice witch once…” he shivers. “And even smell them–”
“Smell? Oh please, don’t do that,” you plead and scrunch up your lips.
“But you smell sweet. Like my mother’s sweetbread. A family recipe–”
“Thor!” You squeal. “That’s not…”
“So you can’t smell me?” His expression falls. “Nor feel my warmth? As I have it. Asgardians run hot.”
“Well I… no I guess… I wouldn’t…” you sputter. “I don’t know. People, or, Midgardians, whatever, we aren’t like that.”
“Hmm,” his throat bobs and he narrows his eyes. “Then I will have to be very obvious, my princess.” He reaches to take your hand. “And I will make you feel how much I want you.”
