Goddammit why is discourse so popular in this community?? Why do you have to be pro-recast AND anti-artist? Why not both? I know that seems COMPLETELY impossible but it is possible. People can look into models of dolls that are currently out of order, and not providing money for the "artist" anymore. Or they could look into each company and see what their process may be? Because sometimes, companies will have an artist make a model for the company and get paid only on commision for the model before moving on to the next company. They don't make any royalties from the selling of the doll, they just keep going. So, by that logic, we shouldn't be supporting certain companies either. Now I understand how horrible it would be to recast a small company owner that does everything. I would never do such a thing. I just think it's difficult to get into the community its because certain communities and forums *cough* DOA *cough* are so unfriendly and heavily ruled.

A little rant

I’m sorry I’m gonna say it, but I feel I have to... I am so done with my local BJD community... Like, SO DONE!

I have gained a broader perspective since I begun being around the Barbie/general doll collectors. Again, I’m talking locally. Because in contrast, internationally, I’m pretty happy.

So, here’s the deal:

When I list something for sale, I get offers which are insults rather than anything... Like, a chick tries to sell her own doll (I saw it on her profile) with a 20% markup over the regular market price and then she emails me and asks if I’d be interested in (my low price MINUS 40% off)... Like, beetch, get some brains! You’re selling your own crap for an insanely high price... Like, I’ve seen your doll being sold for a half of what you’re asking... (condition, extras, etc) and here you are coming over to me and offering a half what I am asking, even though I’m offering it already at a low price? What the freak?!

Another one. I listed up some things with a low starting price on an auction. Having learnt my lesson in the past (people don’t bid ferociously at the end... they just leave it and forget it), I am putting a short caption which says “If the ongoing auction shows no proggress or no interest is shown on the side of the buyers, I am going to cancel it and delete it”. And so I see, a day to finish, some get no offers, other still have 10% of the minimal satisfrying/reasonable price... so I am cancelling. A bunch of peaople with a “pikachu-face-attitude” messaging me online... 

Meanwhile, I am getting a question on one of my dolls: “Is she legit, etc. AND COULD I RESIGN FROM BIDDING IF I CHANGE MY MIND MEANWHILE”... Beetch, you haven’t even started to bid...?! But okay, whatever.... I’m giving her my phone number and ask to call, so we can talk. That’s the only way to tell if they’re even legally adults... to begin with. not to mention the “What do you mean you may want to “back out”” issue I wanted to discuss. NO CONTACT. NONE. ZERO. I mean, sure, she gave me a phone number, but “sorry she can’t talk right now, she’ll call tomorrow”. The tomorrow never comes...  But she clicks the ‘bid” button... Meanwhile, since I crosspost and get great offers for dolls and clothes elsewhere, I’m selling the doll elsewhere. I cancel the risky bid and drag the listing down... and then OUT OF A SUDDEN, I am getting a message... again, not even a call... a friggin message... “HEY WHY DID YOU CANCEL MY BID”... I said: gosh, woman, you can’t even pick up the damn phone, I don’t even know if you’re an adult, not to mention not knowing whether you have an intention of paying should you win the auction, and you’re askign why I cancelled?!”. 

And meanwhile in the Barbie world - same country, same auction site, same me... I am gettin good offers, nobody is insulting me with their offers, people biddin’ nicely, active, have no issues with contacting me... no flakes... 

WHAT THE HELL is wrong with some BJD people? I get fewer issues with the “cheap, plastic barbies” they detest so much than while dealing with them!

Oh, okay, off my chest... now excuse me, I have some packing to do, since apparently people abroad have no issues with contacting me and answering my emails... Not to mention paying, giving me their shipping address data and so on... No to mention, nobody’s whining about the prices which I already try to keep low/reasonable... or, if I ask for offers, no issue with giving me a reasonable one either.

Ordered some doll clothes

I'm excited to have some new clothes for them cause I have a bad habit for buying new dolls and no clothes lol. Anyway, now its just the waiting game and that sucks ass.

Bjd Dreams!

I have had three so far:

I went to a thrift store and there were bjds everywhere! From parts to heads to full bodies. I saw Fairyland, Dollzone, ect. I was with a friend and we were checking out heads to buy.

Went to a weird store that was kind of like a thrift store but not. I found a doll head that was a bit messed up but still workable! I was with my brother in this dream and we were just shopping 😂

The most recent dream was that someone sent me a entire blank centaur doll with the prettiest legs with all this detailed fur it was beautiful and the head was very cute too!

I just put myself on four part layaway for 2 mnf on denver... orz... what have I done????

I know I’ve been pretty much like a ghost in this hobby, lingering around, coming and going from time to time. I’m surprised that I still get followers on here and flickr.

I know I’ve been saying I was going to sell my dolls at some point and I finally decided to do so after staring at the vacant eyes of my dolls sitting away in the dark pits of my closet.

Some were legit spur of moment purchases that I regret. In the case of venitu, it was literally the hype of this particular doll, and the fact that he will be discontinued which immortalized the whole thing. When he arrived, I was in the process of moving from NY to TX so I couldn’t open him and he laid in his box unopened for half a year. When I finally got to TX and settled down, it took me another half a year to actually open the box. When I did, it hit me that, wow, this doll is really big (as I had previous doll experience with 70+cm dolls) and realized he was not for me. But because of the hype and excitement, I decided to ignore it and tried to be more productive by giving him face up, make wigs and etc. But at the end, he was just sort of an odd figure in my doll collection. And was put away in my closet for another half a year.

Next, was my Rosy. I did want a Rosy and a tan doll, so she was sort of two in one kind of deal. I think I was pretty happy with her for a while but then it died down because I had no idea who she was. I think I revamp her for about 3-4 character change but still could not get it. And in the end, I ended up just putting her away in the closet for a whole year.

I realize how unhealthy my excessive spendthrift habit was. Here I was, a year ago, freshly leaving home and finally becoming independent. In a place so far from home and was caught up in the excitement of being on salary, getting a raise and was making it in life as a young adult. But didn’t quite factor in the fact that my funds were going to be cut from rent, car, insurance, food and etc bills, that I was still naive to think everything was going to be okay. In between, I’ve bought few more dolls (to which I have even yet to give names or face up to) and emerging myself into another hobby hell: world of cosplay. It took an year to finally punch a hole in my wallet and bank account to realize what was going on but it was too late. Only now I realize how stupid I was being with my money.

And yeah, I could’ve seen it coming from a mile away but sometimes, this hobby can make you go blind in the wrong places. I only know that now. And you may think I was being stupid, to which, I completely agree with, and that I’m just really taking it as learning mistake. I don’t know if I will be selling more from my collection, but we have to see. I think I was easily swayed and influenced by other people’s dolls that I forgot what my interests and aesthetics for my dolls were. So for now, I’m just keeping it low and selling my dolls that I don’t bond with. I feel like I should sell some of the clothes but I’m such an hoarder that I can’t seem to let it go.

Anyways, this is just a big rant and not trying to justify anything because bottom line, I was just being stupid.

Urgh, i swear i’ve never had such sucky communication with a seller before as Im having with this certain person. If I’ve given you money and the doll is ready, don’t you think you should ship her out and send me a tracking number now?
