BUT if you see the word RECAST when you are trying to get into the doll hobby that is a BJD TERM TO MEAN KNOCK OFF OR COUNTERFEIT.

THESE DOLLS HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM THE ORIGINAL ARTIST FOR PERSONAL PROFIT.

THERE ARE BLOGS WHO ARE TRYING TO CONVINCE NEWBIES THAT THESE DOLLS ARE LEGIT.

THEY ARE NOT!

The artists who sculpted these dolls have spoken against recasts/counterfeits of their art!

IF YOU CHOOSE TO BUY A RECAST THAT IS ON YOU THAT IS YOUR DECISION. BUT IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS BE CAREFUL!

DO YOUR RESEARCH.

ASK FOR HELP FROM THE COMMUNITY.

AND IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO PERSUADE YOU INTO BUYING RECASTS THEY ARE TRYING TO SCAM YOU!

Let's Talk About Recasts...

I don’t consider people who accidentally get a recast without knowing to be pro-recast, or anti-artist. I see those people as victims in this whole recast mess too. Especially when I see the recasters have their own boxes that look like the kind of things that expensive action figures come in, and come with their own CoAs.

I can fully see how a newbie who doesn’t know much about the community fall for that. They look like their own convincing thing.

Who I do see as being pro-recast are those who know full well what a recast is, and buy it anyway. When I talk about anti-artists being the problem, it’s very much this group of people who I mean.

Recasts are a huge consuming problem in the hobby. It doesn’t matter if you buy that limited no longer for sale BJD from forever ago. Or a recast from the more expensive range of dolls that you’re not quite willing to spend on a doll, and would never buy a legit of anyway. Which you might have also come up with reasons to why you totes “hate” that company. So make claims that that company would never see that money anyway.

Because no matter what doll you personally buy, you’re investing in theft. You’re giving the recasters money to expand their business to buy whatever doll they think will make them more money. Including easily available dolls, or single artists dolls where the artist is running on a tight profit margin to make. No doll is off the table for them.

You might not personally agree with those recasts even, but if you buy any recast you help them do this. You help them destroy the creativity in the hobby, and pray on the hard work of others. Whilst they make quick and easy money, from not just the artists who made this hobby, but the cheap labour they use to also “save” on wages.

So please don’t support this. It doesn’t matter what legit doll you buy, just as the money goes to artists, and not recasters. There’s so many wonderful dolls and companies out there, look into them. You might find something you adore even more.
