I have not been writing, because instead I have been hyper focused on sewing on a 1/4 scale. I have been wanting to make this style of dress for YEARS so I am glad to have finally done it!
This is a nonspecific 1880′s ensemble with elements across the decade and short sleeves on the blouse because I try not to make my life that difficult.
For elements we have a bumroll, petticoat with bustle, skirt, overskirt, blouse and jacket and a tiny hat. Everything was made/drafted by me. The jacket and skirts are silk, the teal is from silkbaron and actually held up very well at such a small scale, but I wouldn't use dupioni for the jacket a second time - the handling really shows from multiple dressing, so taffeta will be my go to from here. (The sleeves of the jacket are already starting to look a little fuzzy, for example.)
The blouse and petticoat are linen, and the bumroll is felt because no one is going to see it so I used the first thing I had handy when I realized she’d need a bigger one than the one I use for her walking skirt.
The skirt hem is 18 inches long so it took quite a while to do those tiny, TINY pleats at the hem of the skirt. The hat is held on with hat pins I made with quilting pins and some UV resin, beads, and nailpolish.
The jacket pins closed when I want it to sit tight to the body with straight pins the way a stomacher would, because I just did not want any bulk of snaps or attachments at the waist and I wanted the dress to be clean when the jacket was removed.

Ieri vi ho parlato di come ho ripreso in mano questo progetto e di come ho “restaurato” le bambole, oggi finalmente vi racconterò effettivamente cosa ho fatto per questo progetto!
Dopo aver verificato che le basi fatte 4 anni prima fossero ancora funzionali ho deciso di iniziare a testarle con avanzi di stoffa che conservavo da tantissimo tempo.
Infatti verso fine Febbraio, poco prima dell’inizio di questa Quarantena, avevo deciso di fare una bella “ristrutturazione” del mio spazio lavorativo (se vi interessa farò un post a parte su come ho sistemato il mio spazio, i mobili che ho comprato ecc...)
e ne ho approfittato per fare anche un bell’inventario di tutti i tessuti che avevo accumulato nel corso degli anni....eh si, direi che ho decisamente un problema di accumulo XD
Come si può intravedere in questo caos, ho preso diligentemente appunti e ho fatto un bell’inventario di tutto quello che ho accumulato nel corso di più di 10 anni di vita Milanese (e forse qualcosa risale anche a prima O_O) dividendo in varie scatole/buste giganti i vari tessuti per tipologia (raso, cotone, lycra...)
Fra tutte le buste ne ho recuperata una che risale a più di 20 anni fa e che racchiude tutti i miei “avanzi carini” (non sto scherzando, l’ho etichettata proprio cosi XD) che uso da sempre per fare gioielli, piccoli accessori...e dentro ci sono addirittura dei tessuti che usavo da piccola con mia nonna per le mie prime prime Barbie.
Era da tantissimo tempo che aspettavo di poter usare qualcosa da questo sacchetto perciò mi ci sono lanciata dentro!
Per prima cosa ho tirato tutto fuori, ho diviso i pezzi veramente piccoli da quelli usabili e fra questi ho suddiviso ulteriormente le stoffe fra “bianche” (o chiare) e “nere” (o scure) per vedere in che direzione andare con i vestitini.
Ho notato fin da subito che avevo tantissimi avanzi di stoffe che avevo utilizzato per tutti i miei lavori Gothic Lolita, soprattutto in stile Sweet Lolita perciò ho deciso di partire dal gruppo “bianco”
Per prima cosa ho testato il cartamodello della base a telini, per vedere di quanto andasse modificato sul dietro per renderlo adatto a tutte le bambole...
Ho utilizzato un tessuto carinissimo bianco con coniglietti di cui avevo solo una striscia alta circa 30 cm (non immaginerete mai per quale capo l’ho comprato inizialmente...)
Dopo una rapida incursione nel cassetto dei pizzi...ecco il primo nato indossato dalla bambola più piccola!
(spero che non vi inquietino le bambole senza capelli perche non metto mai le parrucche quando le uso come modelle)
Dopo aver testato anche le altre due basi ho deciso che avevo necessariamente bisogno di altri cartamodelli visto che ormai la mia creatività galoppava e tutti quei tessuti diversi mi avevano già scatenato miliardi di idee, percio ho realizzato altre due basi: una maglia a maniche corte/top e un paio di pantaloni.
E con una mia vecchia canottiera in jersey che non usavo più da secoli sono nati loro due, due amorevoli pigiamini!

Da qui in poi mi sono dedicata praticamente tutti i giorni da metà Aprile (il vestitino con i conigli è del 14 Aprile e questi pigiamini del 16) a creare nuovi abitini per le bambole, utilizzando gran parti dei tessuti Sweet Lolita che avevo e recuperando tantissimi pezzi piccoli di pizzo che non avrei mai più potuto usare per nessun capo.
Nei prossimi post vi presenterò una per una le “collezioni” che ho messo in vendita nel negozio Etsy (andate a vederlo miraccomando!), spero vi interessino e che magari possiate condividere i miei lavoretti con qualche altro appassionato di bambole!
Cercherò di fare post regolari ogni Giovedi in modo da essere più regolare con le pubblicazioni!

Here we are with the second part of my BJD Journey post!
Yesterday I walk you through the process of restarting this project from January 2016, how I restored the dolls and the wigs and today I can tell you how I actually started this project!
After checking if the patterns I did 4 years ago were still right I decided to start searching for fabric to make clothes.
I really wanted to open again my fabric “chest of wonders”
You have to know that during February, before the Quarantine started, I decided to do a little make-over of my sewing room, because I wasn’t happy of the disposition and I felt always the lack of space everywhere (please let me know if you are interested in a post dedicated to my sewing room, if you want to see how I arrenged the space, the furnitures I bought...)
I also decided to do an inventory of all my materials, collected through the years...yes, as you can see in the picture I am a bit of a hoarder when it came to sewing supplies XD
I wrote down in a meticolous way all my supplies (some are older than 10 years!!) and I sorted all my materials by type in different boxes and bags (satin, cotton, spandex...)
The one I was looking for in all my sewing stash is the one labelled “Cute left-overs” (I am not joking, I really named this way XD) that hold all my cute fabrics left overs that I use for jewels, accessories.. some of them date back to my 8 year old-self making Barbie dresses with my grandma.
I was sooo eager to start using that stash again! I really jumped into it!
First of all I sorted all the fabrics inside in “too small” and “usable”, then the usable in “whites” (or light) and “blacks” (or dark) to see where I can start.
I noticed that I have a lof of leftovers from Sweet Lolita fabrics from my Gothic Lolita period, so I decided to start from the “white” group.
I started from the princess seams pattern base to see now much I need to change to adjust it for all the sizes..I used a very cute bunnies fabric (you will never imagine for what project I bought this fabric for...) I only have a 30 cm stripe of it but for a doll dress is enough. After a brief check in my lace stash the first dress was born!
(I hope you aren’t scared of bald dolls because I never use wigs when working on dresses)
After testing the other two bases I decided that I needed more patterns because my creativity was already unleashed so I made: a shirt/tank top base and a pants base.
I tested these bases with an old pajama top of mine, in grey jersey with lovely piglets, and I made two adorable little pajamas!
(This time I put wigs on them before the pictures XD)
Starting from half April I sewn doll clothes almost every day (the bunnies dress was made on the 14th and the pajamas on the 16th), using most of the Sweet Lolita fabrics I have, so I reused so many lace scraps that were destined to never see the light again!
In the next entries I will show you alle the “collections” I uploaded in my Etsy Shop (don’t forget to go check it!), I really hope you are interested in this topic and can spread my entries with more doll lovers!

It’s done!!!! I’ve finally made the Tudor doll dress I’ve always wanted to make since I got into the hobby! Modelled by Vespertine, who is a Raccoondoll Laetitia on a glamour body. So that’s last month’s spectacular outfit - my challenge this year is to make one really amazing outfit each month. A bit late, but I got there! I had so much trouble getting the pattern right, but I’m glad I persisted. 😍 The underskirt and inner sleeves are made separately, so I can switch them out for a different look. Maybe some silver or white brocade if I can find any? Hmm.
