it's easy! or not. the easiest is probably a markov chain generator, you basically just paste input text and choose how much output you want and how close to the input you want it to be. there's even a pretty good browser-based one so like, the hardest part was copying all of bjork's lyrics into one place the next easiest is probably... running a neural net like char-rnn from github? or there's a lot of "how to make a tumblr bot" material out there but it looks like most of it requires at least the ability to run someone else's code, and being able to write or edit it would of course step up your game bjorkbot's posts aren't automated, i pick short selections from longer output and queue them -- but it's possible i think to run a fully automated bot that posts all on its own (and i might try that but bjorkbot already legitimately says things like "crying cause i don't have a bod" so it seems risky to leave it unattended) it's been particularly interesting to me because the tumblrbots have so far been comedy oriented, and there's an element of comedy in bjorkbot for sure but my goal is to make more of a holistic replicant -- it makes the funny parts funnier if the deep bits hit hard, and that seems more true to life anyway so it's kind of this unexplored medium and i didn't expect or intend to really feel things about it or spend this much time pondering it -- but it reminds me of some maya deren quote about how the artist's task is to explore how many different ways new technologies can have emotional impact, and how she didn't necessarily expect that when she started with film (she picked it up after being a writer, because she felt like she had been translating images to words the whole time anyway) i don't know what you would feel if you started a bot but it would probably be different and unexpected and interesting
