A few questions, and a theory or two
So I have a few questions that have formed from the past two episodes. I know it is a little bit early to be making theories and all, but just hear out the questions and then the theory.
1.) So first off, what is the relationship between Nanao and Taiju?
They evidently know each other quite well, which was shown when Taiju commented on the fact that Nanao was most likely messing with his juniors. They also both seem to find it amusing that they are 'enemies.' And they also call each other by their first names, not their family names, which means that they are either related, or are old friends. But their relationship hasn't been clarified. So what is everyone else's thoughts on that?
The next few questions deal with today's episode.
2.) Why did Nanao know all of his classmates childhood secrets? What is the point of it?
I mean I know Ryoma kept calling him a 'super-sadist', but where did that come from? Does Nanao know the secrets of his current classmates? Or was that only a childhood thing? We know he is fond of teasing others, especially the second years in the defense club, so what does he know about them? And would he happen to use the information either against them or to help them, or maybe use his knowledge of his classmates and clubmates (if he has any) as some form of blackmail.
Okay, so this next question has nothing to do with the theory that I am about to throw out but...
3.) Why did Nanao just randomly give some kid his name and a piece of advise which the advise seemed to be a longer version of "just be yourself"?
I mean he had forgotten he had done it, and so he probably had forgotten meeting Ichiro back then. I know he was just trying to be nice, I mean he is a nice character. So he probably had seen that the pinkette was upset and tried to cheer him up. But it just seemed like an odd situation to me since it didn't come with any context into the situation. Like how did they meet, and why was Nanao giving him advise?
So here is the theory I have been working towards. The one that goes with the first two questions. The theory has nothing to do with the third question.
So. We all know that there is another animal that had been sent to Earth by the King of Honyala Land, but we have no idea of where he is, or what his motives are going to be. My guess is that he is supposed to be an advisor to the royal family and that is why he was sent, to watch and advise the two princes on their quest to find out what being a king means, and to win the King's favor.
So what if the lemur(?) wanted the throne, like many people have speculated. And maybe he would choose two people, one out of each of the prince's group of knights. And they worked under him to try and win the battle, and it would likely be won considering from our knowledge from previous seasons, and the current one so far, that neither group can perform their main spells without every member working with them. So no monster would be created by the Edelstein, and no monster created could be defeated by Happy Kiss.
I feel like the two dad friends would do what they could to protect their groups, so maybe they wouldn't leave purposefully. Maybe the lemur(?) threatens the other members of the groups, or maybe offered the others ultimate protection if they joined with him. After all why wouldn't he want two third years who both can work very well together, get along, and know a lot about the students around them. After all it is shown that Taiju knows at least a little bit about the others, or has the resources to find out easily, as he had found out about the bento episode two's monster's mom had made and posted for everyone to see, and it angered the monster enough to change to a completely different monster.
Both Taiju and Nanao seem like they could be smart enough and manipulative enough to call the attention to an advisor who wants power. With Nanao's knowledge and love of teasing others it could easily work against both of the ruling ideals Karls and Furanai use, after all these two aren't fully happy or dark enough to just strike fear into everyone to rule, people would likely be happy, but also fearful of what was to come.
However the advisor guy could be a good guy, and is watching from the shadows. Maybe he would want to get two people from each group to help him keep an eye over the princes and to make sure they learn the right lessons. Who would be better than the two dad friends who were protective over their friends. He might offer their 'kids' protection and what-not after either one of the prince's get crowned king. So Nanao and Taiju both end up telling the lemur(?) What had happened with the prince's after battles and whenever the prince's learn something new that could help them become the next king.
So this is already long enough, so let me know what everyone thinks of the theories and your thoughts on the answers to the questions. Thanks for reading this far, I know I am probably over thinking things a lot, especially since we only have four episodes to work with but I hope the ideas aren't too crazy and far-fetched.
Favorite scene from this weeks episode.
Taishi is not happy about this...but I am. *rubs hands together*
Happy Kiss Episode 2 Thoughts
So the second episode was actually really good? Like I wasn‘t expecting half of the episode to be both tied to the main plot and the student council but I am really happy about it.
I’m liking this student council and Furanui a heck of a lot. Furanui’s motivation is one I get behind a little more than Karls’ just because he seems to have a reason and a strong desire to be Prince. Karl’s and Furanui’s relationship is really cool too because they have a legit sibling rivalry and communicate like real brothers which I adore.
I’m liking Karl’s a whole lot more, I don’t think he’s “otter satan” as everyone seems to keep calling him (and I find the name hilarious btw) I just think he so carefree and single minded he tends to do hurtful things without thinking so I’m interested to see how that plays out.
So Ata-san I am happy to say is not just a Kinshirou 2.0. It seems as if Ata-san is a lot more reasonable than Kinshioru in his motivations, he wants to organize and help people become less lazy, whereas Kin-chan wanted to purge the world of it. Also Ata san takes himself very seriously but in actuality he’s often blown off and talked down to. Kyo managed to have an entire conversation without feeling threatened or even bothered.
Kyo’s disdain for doing anything is En times 10. En didn’t always seem bothered and annoyed and under the right circumstances would run face first into danger if the situation called for it. I will say too when Ryouma was in danger I was a bit bothered by his lack of concern for him but I’m hoping that was a front because honestly I don’t know if I can get behind a character like that and if it was meant to be a joke I didn’t think it was very funny so eh....stay tuned I guess.
I’m a big fan of Happy Kiss prioritizing relationships to play out because that was always my favorite parts in the original series and I like these characters a lot so far and watching them be characters is a real thrill.
My favorite scene was after the student council flashback where the Happy boys were all goofing off in the corner. Kyo sleeping (of course), Ryouma giving Naonao a massage (YESSS), Taishi and Ich playing rock, paper, scissors, and Karls chasing a buttlerfly (so. darn. cute) only for them to look at the student council like....”What? You guys are still talking?” they’re all so adbsorbed in their own affairs that they don’t bother dealing with anything that upsets or disinterests them. This is a strange mentality for the heroes to have but the fact that they are a group of assholes makes them even more fun to me.
While we are on the subject I love gorgeous boy on the student council- Arima 2.0 who is so freaking manipulative and cunning but also care free and passive all at the same time haha. He was my favorite to watch this episode and for good reason.
Karls and Furanui are both really adorable and their band of knights are all fun to watch so honestly regardless of what direction this show takes I am on board.
Stay tuned, Joyfulmwah
Naonao is so pleased with himself. Also Ryouma is a gift.
Happy Kiss Episode 3 Thoughts
This episode was pretty good but the two things that made it quality were Naonao and Taiju’s bromance and that monster‘s voice actor! (I was cracking up the entire time.)
I’d like to point out that they are trying to establish some relationship with Maasa and Furunai with their first introduction and now the cookie scene from this episode-time will prove me right most likely. (For some reason more people aren’t acknowledging this or noticing it but I’ all about it tbh)
Ata and Kyoutaro have something obviously but I’m sure what so far it’s just Kyoutaro breathes and Ata loses his shit or bites ice cream like chillllllllll (still ship it pretty hard though #atakyo)
Kyoutaro’s speech to the bread tab monster was very heartwarming in a weird way. I like the whole monster dilemma this week actually. Learning the names to miscellaneous items was a neat little thing to add in. (Only boueibu can make me appreciate shit like this.)
The whole Naonao and Taiju thing was the thing I most anticipated for this episode and I think it pays off, I think I would have been content if they had bad blood but I am really glad someone in the creative staff took the high ground and made them dad friends. I honestly believe these two tricky boys will bridge the gap between the Defense Club and the Student council. Mark. My. Words. (Besides these two are too similar not to vibe well tbh. #taijoa?) I like this ship not more than Ryouma and Nao but you know, it’s still pretty solid.
This episode was kind of monster of the week which is what I would expect from a later episode but hey this is coming off the heels of two really decent episodes so it gets a pass for me. It took the original series to get to episode 4 before I was onboard which is something Happy Kiss did in episode 1.
Stay tuned, Joyfulmwah
Hey lovelies! I was hoping some of you guys would be willing to write some stuff for Happy Kiss so that this unofficial fandom could become Official! I know it’s pretty early so the works can still be full of silly Headcanons or AU’s I’m planning on writing something myself! I’m sure there was a couple people wondering where the page was to begin with so here goes.
