“Black” Fluorite

Chemical formula: CaF2 (Calcium fluoride)

Color: Black in appearance, but really dark purple, green, or blue.

Hardness: Semi-soft (4)

Crystal system: Isometric

Occurrence: RARE

Health risks: None

Wow factors:

- Super dark specimens are very rare and prized specimens.

- Often so dark they must be back-lit to show their true color (as seen in the      combined images).

- The dark color is caused by exposure to radiation during the crystal’s growth.

Care tips:

- As with any fluorite, you can wash it in warm soapy water and rinse with    distilled water to reduce the chance of water spots on the surface.

- Can fade in sunlight! Do not display in direct sunlight or you can fade the rare  color of the specimen.

- Do not use abrasive cleaners or soaps with alcohol! This can damage the  crystals.

Locality of this piece:  Locality of this piece is currently unknown, but similar dark specimens have been found in Mexico, Namibia, Illinois, and Kentucky.

Price range: The darker and more opaque the crystals are, the more expensive they become. Super dark specimens can be over $50 depending on the size and aesthetic looks of the crystals. Lighter specimens that are dark, but can see the true color in some areas will be much more affordable.

Black Fluorite and Black Fire Opal Heacanons 2

- They only had the dog for about a week because they were going on missions a lot and couldn't take care of it (They ended up giving it to their neighbours) - Black Fire Opal loves to play pranks, whether it be on the poor people of the city, or on Fluorite - Fluorite eventually made her stop the pranks because she was pretty sure someone had a heart attack because of one of them - Along with being obsessed with human video games and tech, Black Fire Opal is also obsessed with lots of the movies (How to Train Your Dragon for example) - Fluorite has literally jumped into Black Fire Opal's arms on at least 3 different occasions - Fluorite gets extremely blushy whenever Black Fire Opal tries to cuddle them - Black Fire Opal loves cats, and accidentally regenerated into one once. Fluorite couldn't stop laughing for a good 5 minutes - 70% of the time when Black Fire Opal is poofed, it's because a bird fly as flown into her face while she was flying - When she gets startled or nervous, Black Fire Opal's wings will flare up or twitch, Fluorite thinks it's adorable, and will startle Black Fire Opal whenever she can - Black Fire Opal has spent way to much time on the internet, and now has a pun and a meme for everything - Fluorite has a bunch of nicknames for Black Fire Opal, which include Blacky, Opal, and just Fire - Blacky, is because it has a nice ring to it, Fire is because Black Fire Opal picked up on the human concept of "roasting" others, and is a pro at it, Opal is just because it's easy to say - Black Fire Opal is a shipper - Fluorite and Black Fire Opal run an ask blog where they have a ton of followers. Most of them think they're just cosplaying as their ocs and have amazing Photoshop skills - Ronaldo has found this blog and asked them a bunch of odd questions - They later had to block Ronaldo - With their large follower base, Black Fire Opal has even found some fanfics of them... Some of which she wishes she could forget @thearomanticninja

Random Black Fluorite and Black Fire Opal Headcanons

- Black Fire Opal will carry Fluorite around and they'll go flying just because it calms their nerves - They have a house in a city - No humans have ever been in that house because it's full of gem artifacts and the such - They know of the Crystal Gems, but have never interacted with them - (this one is just random) How they know of the Crystal Gems is because Black Fire Opal follows Ronaldo's blog - Black Fire Opal will accidentally set stuff on fire in her sleep (with her wings, or just starting fires accidentally) and doesn't know because Fluorite always puts them out - Black Fire Opal can't swim - Black Fire Opal has probably burned someone, whether it be to death or just a small burn, because they insulted Fluorite - Black Fire Opal is infatuated by the tech on earth, especially video games and various social medias (tumblr) - While Fluorite may have a panic attack because of her anxiety, Black Fire Opal has terrible nightmares when she sleeps (hence the fires) - Black Fire Opal is the cuddler @thearomanticninja

@thearomanticninja I managed to finish 11th sketches I was doing of their dance! (After panel 4 Black Fire Opal's wings are supposed to just get bigger until they're both in a sphere of fire and they come out as the fusion!)
