Rollergirls - Zack Gardner - inks/digital - 2015
So this morning i got to play music on Fox43 news in York (again!!). I decided to sing and dedicate my song choice to my league mate, Raging Rapunzel. Here's a link to the song: http://fox43.com/2015/11/09/hanover-artist-showcases-talent-on-music-monday/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_WPMT_FOX43 Rage is a skater on the Black Rose Rollers all star team and has helped me throughout my entire derby career, on and off the track. This girl can light up any room and I've never seen her frown (except when she gets called to the box for a forearm penalty.) Her #1 fan and supporter and father Keith passed away in the end of October of this year. Not only did her father pass, but her mother left us in June. Rage's grandmother also left us about a month after her mother. So as you can see, this poor girl has had to endure the loss of both of her parents and the grandmother she lived with as well as her father and sister. Now she is left to pay bills and take care of pets and her younger sister. Our derby league has decided to volunteer our time and talents to help Rage and her sister out any way we can: prep meals and freeze them and leave them for the girls; help with yard work; help with their dogs; watch Rage's sister if she needs a sitter. I think my song dedication on live TV was a gesture that Rage needed and I am glad to have done it. I dedicate my talent and am hoping to also help dedicate time to spend with her sister whenever she needs some alone time. So now I would like to ask you to please help out the Rodgers family. Even just a dollar will help cover funeral costs and bills and car troubles and groceries. Here's the GoFundMe link: https://www.gofundme.com/jx7afppw Thank you. xo Macy K aka Mace in Ya Face
Please reblog this if you wouldn't mind. I'd love to see this GoFundMe sky rocket!
29 point jam got me feelin like a rock star.
a photo of us MVPs from yesterday’s Cherries vs. IMRG bout 😁
i am extremely proud of myself. LAST SATURDAY.(i'm in a white jersey with blue/green hair and leopard tights and black shorts - number 91) the first half of this game, i broke my thumb. and skated like a bull in a fucking China shop in the second half because i was so pissed off that we drove 2.5 hours to play a team that we knew we would lose to and i didn't want to sit out the rest of the game... i do some really pretty blocking things from 34:40-35:03 ish - ie: pushing my (guest skater) blocker to knock out the opposing jammer and throwing a pretty decent can opener, which apparently deserved a crowd reaction and made me feel real fucking bad ass. eeeek! and my jamming wasn't terrible, surprisingly. i got MVP blocker for this game. roller derby is fucking cool.
It was a good fight and super close in the second half, but Black Rose Rollers takes the win, 248-220! Congratulations ladies, and good game!
this. this is what makes this sport totally worth it.
during a brief time out because the scoreboard went all fritzy, we got to bond with the girls we just skated against for the last 58 minutes in a carefree moment of dancing and singing to Sweet Caroline. dancing and joking with complete strangers who share a common interest might be the coolest thing ever.
so here's my skater bio in case you were maybe interested or some-ting.
