Finally! After asking for years and years, Netflix has finally acquired the rights to SEVEN black television series: Moesha: Streaming on Aug 1 The Game (Seasons 1-3): Streaming Aug 15 Sister Sister: Streaming Sept 1 Girlfriends: Streaming Sept 11 The Parkers: Streaming Oct 2 Half & Half: Streaming Oct 15 One on One: Streaming Oct 15 I’m so excited!!! Each of these shows played a role in my life. Seeing positive portrayals of beautiful black women being successful, being in love, being wrong, and learning from it. I feel like this will be an excellent time for everyone to watch and analyze from a new perspective.

I understand freedom of expression and that "the hood" is but a position of black identity but it shouldn't be the only narrative on television for black youth. We have an array of reality shows that again perpetuate that is okay for a grown women to hit another women because she was gossiping about her. Just look at Wives series, Basketball Wives, Love and HipHop all of these shows are poisoning our youth. In the 90s and 80's there were different narratives. They was Will Smith, Family Matters, Bill Cosby Show fast forward today where they is nothing but ludicrousy on television. This isnt just a trend on BET it is everywhere.
