I’m begging Black Texans to visit your local library or bookmobile. Check out (Black) books, use Libby/Hoopla, participate in programs, and/or join friends of the library!! Libraries are for us too and we have to make that known. When books are not checked out they get “weeded out” aka thrown away which will reduce the overall collection and it leads to librarians not investing in adding to specific collections in the future. They stop buying Black books when folks don’t check them out!!

Brazos Valley African American Museum to help community trace family history

“You’re probably gonna discover some things you didn’t know and then you’ll probably discover some things or reaffirm what you do know."

"Tracing family history isn’t always an easy or inexpensive task, but the Brazos Valley African American Museum is hoping to change that. The museum unveiled its new Pruitt-Sadberry Genealogy Family History Search program Tuesday....Anyone interested can book an appointment on the museum’s website for a free, one-on-one, hour-long session with a trained genealogy and family history volunteer."
