Both overall and personally I can unequivocally say that 2024 was for the birds. Therefore, in continuation of that theme, my Top 5 selection for the 2024 Gray-Card Memorial/Photo Extravaganza is "for the birds". Also, I love birds. These little fluffballs are curious, friendly, and sociable, and will often come to say hello when you are out in nature. 👋

went on a nice hike today! went to visit the chickadee troop i used to study and band. been a few years, so it’s an entirely new banditry i think! still just as friendly. you can see some leg bands in a few of the photos. some aren’t even banded yet. i didn’t see my old favourite though; a young female i called Cash who had a limp leg

As I was in Maine for the holidays, it is not surprising that my first bird sighting of 2015 was a Black-capped Chickadee!
