Attack for @blackbackedjackal
Meet the black-backed jackal (Canis mesomelas)! This canid lives in Africa, where it prefers arid and open terrain. Populations of this jackal can be found in eastern and southern regions of the continent, including Kenya, Somalia, Botswana, and South Africa. To take down large prey, like an impala, it works with a pack to single out a target from its herd and take turns tiring it out before taking it down. It also hunts alone or in pairs to pounce on smaller prey such as rodents and lizards. It’s not above scavenging, either. Upon finding a big carcass, it might save bits of meat for a later meal by burying pieces throughout its range. ran into @blackbackedjackal the other day
Are there any unsung critters you'd like to see brought to life in inky glory? I'm taking suggestions! I've been noodling what to do for inktober, and I think I would like to make up a list of lesser known/less praised animals (I know, an animal theme - shock and surprise!) Jackals, for example - who would clean up all the old carcasses and stray hooves and horns on the savanna if not jackals? Yet it's those flashy lions and cheetahs that get all the glory :p #inktober #animals #jackal #animalart #penandink #scavangerlove #jackalart #animalillustration #canid #blackbackedjackal #art #artistsofinstagram #illustratorsofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B2fOq0UnrMf/?igshid=1blil9z37ycon
@blackbackedjackal - Thanks!! Hopefully you were on my team and we won the match...
Also, boosting doesn’t bother me if it’s not done unfairly (or for money.)
@the-wayward-samurai - I agree!
She’s always a really strong pick, no pun intended. Especially with role queue. But lately Sigma’s been meta, so I’ve forced myself to learn him and a few more tanks just so I can play my role better.
At most waterholes in the Kgalagadi you can get to see jackals trying to catch doves and other birds. This guy, at Kij Kij waterhole, needs a bit more practice!
