The entirety of this party was overwhelming. While she appreciated Tony inviting her to his parties, she’d noticed more and more recently that they were less chaperoning Peter at the super-shindigs, but to be an extra body for networking. She appreciated the opportunity, really, but she felt strange rubbing elbows with people this far out of her league. They were billionaires and she worked for a charity. Everyone in suits and gowns and shoes more expensive than a months rent for her apartment, it made her feel unintentionally small.

May smoothed a hand over her dress as she excused herself from a circle of people she was speaking with, deciding to go to the bar to grab herself another drink. She let out a soft sigh and rested her elbows on the edge of the bar, waiting for the bartender to finish whatever drink they were working on.
