Hey y’all I got this in the mail a few weeks ago!!! I told my Facebook family but forgot to spread the news to y’all! So listen for those that know me closely and those that simply have been following me, y’all know this has been a long road. A long bumpy ass road, one that I worked extremely hard for and had sooo many challenges. It took me 7 years to get this 10 really I will tell you why another day! In the meantime I’ve built some great relationships here. The last few semesters were weird and not as intimate because of covid and it was a big shift for me. I made it work tho 🥰 I am currently on the #blackgraduation committee and it’s crunch time! Where are my fellow #blackgraduates @tufts.onyx @tuftsuniversity @tuftsafricana @smfaattufts Much love to the class of 2021 getting ish done in a whole ass pandemic 🙌🏾👏🏾😭 (at School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMHtf0pnuOK/?igshid=3zs3bv8e8hcw
As I continue to construct my identity, and remind myself of NOT always looking at myself through the eyes of others. It’s important to acknowledge that life (through the good and the necessary) will allow me to experience things that will provide growth and wisdom for my soul. I have always had a double-consciousness about the world I live in: looking at the world through the eyes of being a woman and through the eyes of being a woman of African descent. The only thing that has kept me grounded is the fact that I truly only know the things that I have experienced. And yet, still being young, and having much more to experience about life, means that I truly know nothing at all!Learning is key. Open mindedness is key. Perseverance is key, especially in a world where you are not encouraged to believe in yourself, but to only doubt yourself... Great trees take time to grow, for its roots need the deepest/strongest foundation. For its plight and height are destined for greatness. Never put a time table on your success. Define your own success and be content with your accomplishments. If for yourself, you feel you need to do more... than do more. But do more for yourself, because that is what YOU believe. I will say, that being content with LESS, is not acceptable, because we all deserve the best of what we are willing to work hard for. Work hard for what you want. Work hard for what you need. Do not make excuses. The result of your success is based on your investment and the amount of time you put into your craft. - Signed, A Proud Black Graduate (e.j.g) #BlackGraduation #LACCD #LASC #blackwritersmatter #blackbusinessmatters (at South Central LA)
