A Tale of Two Shows
Last weekend we had two entirely different kinds of shows. On Saturday night we were a part of a four-band lineup at The Blackheart. The Blackheart is located in a cool part of town where the nightlife is always active. It was one of the better shows we’ve had in our careers.
We got to play to a bunch of new faces and they were all really digging our sound. Afterward, Emily and I passed out all the flyers we brought. We were laughing with strangers and were the recipients of several free alcoholic beverages. It was such a great time.
The following Monday we played The Saxon Pub at 11pm after Bob Schneider. Emily and I were excited to carry Saturday’s vibe into Monday night. When we got there it was packed (not too surprising since Bob is such an icon here). We were licking our chops at the potential fans we were gonna make. Then Bob’s set ended and Emily and I watched helplessly as droves of people emptied out the front door. There was nothing we could do.
We ended up playing to the bar staff that night (who were really nice!) and one of our fans who made a late appearance (thanks Cody!). In fact, it was so dead that he thought the venue was closed when he drove up.
Though admittedly it was a bit of a let down, we still had a good time. The Saxon is a great sounding room, the people that work there are great, and we know we’re paying our dues. It’s just pretty funny how things change from show to show.
Hey guys! We're gonna be jammin' at this benefit tomorrow! Y'all come early and let's git down! Check out this link for all the info! https://m.facebook.com/events/1574818189455097/ @blackheartbar #helpsteven #blackheartbar #Austin #Notinthefaceusa (at The Blackheart)
