On Toledo: Liz
How I know her: I met Liz in 2014 when she adopted a dog, who is deaf, from the Lucas County Pit Crew. Courtesy of our girl, Mari, we had learned quite a bit about living with and training a deaf dog so we helped her settle into life with her new girl (okay, mostly we just tried to convince her that her wild puppy and her cats would one day live in harmony). Eventually we made the effort to hangout just for fun and started having “foodies” nights with her. Liz is also known as “Four Plates” because, well, she has a deep affinity for food.
This is what she has to say:
Q: Where is your favorite place to eat in Toledo? A: The Indian Jewel of Toledo!
Q: What is your favorite thing to do in Toledo? A: My favorite thing to do in Toledo is go to the downtown farmers’ market in the spring and summer to stock up on fresh fruits, veggies, bread, and other goodies.
Q: If someone was visiting Toledo for the first time, what is one thing they absolutely have to experience? A: If somebody was visiting Toledo for the first time, they would need to experience Gino's pizza. It's one-of-a-kind!
Q: What does Toledo mean to you? A: "Toledo" to me will always mean "home." I don't live in Toledo anymore, but it still encompasses everything that I love. My heart will always be in Toledo.
Q: Anything else you wanna share? A: I LOVE downtown Toledo and everything it has to offer: Mud Hens and Walleye games, farmers market, breweries, shops, and restaurants. It is one of my favorite places to be. Black Kite Coffee - my favorite coffee shop in Toledo. Bobby and I took one of our very first dates here. We were sitting at a table by the window, drinking coffee, (my hair was out of control and the sun was making that apparent) and Bobby came out of nowhere with, "I like your whispies." The rest was history. We love to revisit Black Kite to enjoy their delicious coffee and to reminisce of that genuine compliment that sealed the deal at that very coffee shop.
P.s. OMG how could I forget....HOLEY TOLEDOUGH DONUTS!!
