ship aesthetics: sirius black and dorcas meadowes “After we first slept together, I was high off you for three days. It’s been two days since I slept with someone else, and I’m still waiting for that high to start.”
Rebel Rebel
Dorcas Meadowes had pulled the blinds shut in the stuffy flat hours ago in a desperate attempt to keep the hot sunlight out. The tiny window air conditioning unit had sputtered out its last gasp of life only moments before and the sun wasn't due to set for at least another half hour, at which point she would pull up the shades and fling open the windows to let the cooler London night breeze through the place.
How's your dad, Dorky?
He's okay. We brought him home last night finally, and thanks to the potions they've given him and the guilt he laid on my mum about having good food for his recovery period, he's actually doing surprisingly well. Wish I had a camera so I could capture these moments and use them against him in the future.
And Baby Makes Three, Part 3 || AU Jarfish
“Matt told you guys to come over, didn’t he?” Doe stood at the doorway to the kitchen, hand hand on her swollen belly and the other resting on her hips in what may have once been a threatening manner but was now just comical.
“What? We can’t just want to spend time with our best mate?” Megan smirked at her before walking into the kitchen and pulling a piece of chocolate from the bowl Doe kept hidden behind the salad bowls in one of the cabinets.
“Oi! Put that back!”
Sirius came up to Doe, openly staring at her belly. “Good Godric, Jarvis was right. You’re about to burst.” Doe reached out and smacked him against the side of his head.
“I knew he asked you to come watch me, that prat.” She moved back to the kitchen counter, picking up the bowl of chocolate batter and pouring it into the muffin tins before placing them in the oven. “You don’t get any of these though, sorry. They’re for me.” She turned back to look at them as she licked the chocolate off the spoon.
“Greedy cow,” muttered Sirius. The spoon flew out of Doe’s hand and towards his head at the same time that Megan leaned over to smack him. “Matt owes me for putting up with the pair of you right now.”
Sirius Black, if you don't come collect Frodo from me right now, you'll never see him again because I'll be stealing him.
Little Darling, it Feels Like Years Since it's Been Clear II Sirius and Doe
Sirius didn’t waste any time or faff about when he dragged himself out of the Hospital Wing for only the second time since he had carried Doe there. He hadn’t wanted to leave at all, but the first time Pomfrey had insisted he go and take a shower for hygiene reasons, and now he was starving, and with everyone in class there was no one to bring him any. Telling Matt, who had also refused to leave Doe’s side, making for a slightly awkward week, he would be back in ten minutes, he hurriedly left the room, making his way down to the kitchen at a jog. The further away from the Hospital Wing he got, the more panicked he felt; after the magnitude of the attack on his best friend he couldn’t bear to be away from her in case something happened. He was in and out of the kitchens in mere minutes, just taking anything the House Elves had lying around, not wanting to waste time having something made, and was on his way back to Doe.
Having gotten his food quickly, Sirius slowed down a little on the way back, giving himself time to get some fresh air, stretch his legs and take the time to process what had happened. It had been an exhausting week for him, for many reasons, but mostly because he was struggling to sleep at night; the chair he had taken command of was not particularly comfortable, but he also couldn’t close his eyes without seeing Doe lying there, covered in blood. Visions of her in a state swarmed in his head when he tried and he would wake up in a cold sweat convinced she was dead. Eventually he gave up trying, instead staying awake staring at the wall, his eyes itchy from tiredness. The anger he had felt when he and Megan had found Doe was still ever present, the urge to hold someone accountable, to make someone hurt as much as she had been, and he spent his wakeful nights thinking about who it could have been and what he would like to do to them. It seemed to give him adrenaline, to keep him awake so he wouldn’t have to face the painful visions.
Finally arriving back at the Hospital Wing, Sirius pushed the door open, calling to Matt before he had a chance to glance around. “I got some leftover food from breakfast, d’you want some?” He didn’t like the boy, but he was probably as hungry as Sirius was, having not left either to get breakfast that morning. When no reply came, Sirius walked over to Doe’s bed, pulling open the curtain that gave her some privacy from students who wanted to catch a glimpse of the injured girl. His heart stopped for a moment when he saw her bed was empty and that Matt was gone; he whipped his head around, dropping his food on her bed, and when he still didn’t spot her, ran over to the bathroom to see if they were there. His hands reached up to his hair, which he tugged in frustration when they weren’t there either. He thought about calling for Pomfrey, but didn’t as he knew exactly what must have happened; Doe had woken up and Matt had busted her out of the place. His anger surged at this, at himself and at Matt and Doe. He hadn’t been there for Doe when she woke up, and she shouldn’t have gone anywhere; she needed rest. As for Matt, it seemed to him that it was rather selfish on his part that he had whisked Doe off so quickly when Sirius had sat by her side day and night. Just as he decided to go and look for them – Ravenclaw tower was his best bet – the door opened and Doe walked back in, looking absolutely awful and unsteady on her feet.

"Good night for a smoke, eh?"
Dorcas spun around at the sound of Sirius's voice. "What are you wearing?" she asked through peals of laughter, pointing at his funny clothes and hairy feet.
"Speak for yourself, Dorky." She looked down at herself realizing she too was dressed as a hobbit, complete with hairy feet and all. "What are we doing here?"
"Dispense with the logic, dummy, and come sit with me." Dorcas felt herself pulled to the ground beside Sirius before he passed her a pipe. Without thinking she raised it to her lips, as hobbits are known to do, and relaxed against the grassy hill on which they sat. She flinched as fireworks went off in the distance, the bright sparks too familiar and too startling all at the same time. "Tell me that's Gandalf. Or Dumbledore, right? Merlin, they probably get into trouble together all the time." It was quiet. "Sirius?" she asked as she turned her head and saw him passed out beside her. "Tosser," she said with a laugh as she rolled back to look at the sky again.
"Dorcas."
"Ha! I knew you weren't sleeping." She shoved Sirius's arm but then she realized he hadn't moved, nor had he spoke.
"Doe, you've got to come back."
"But I'm right here! I haven't gone anywhere. We're in the Shire! The Shire, Sirius!"
"Please."
"I don't understand. You're scaring me. I'm right here!" she shook her head in confusion, grabbing his arm as he continued to lay motionless beside her. "I'm right here."
And just as suddenly as he had fallen asleep, Sirius woke up with a goofy smile on his face. "Of course you are." He said with a smirk, "Where else would you be?" He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, almost instantly calming her nerves as they stared back up into the sky over their beloved Shire.
