Plant of the Day
Sunday 5 December 2021
The long branches of older Morus nigra (black mulberry) trees can be prone to collapse. Props can be used to support these, particularly if the limbs are bearing large amounts of fruit. The trees tend to have a domed shape with attractive gnarled bark and large heart shaped leaves that turn yellow in the autumn. The edible, dark purplish-red fruit are delicious.
