the psd that i’ve been using for years on my gameplay pics is the Snapdragoned psd, though i’ve tweaked and modified it a lot over the years, mainly toned down the reds and yellows and adjusted the brightness.

now i’ve also started using a new psd mashup, like literally yesterday, which i used on the random little sims 4 gameplay pics i shared. i still need to play around with it before i start using it for sims 2 because it’s a little heavy on the reds and makes the night sky look like daylight but it combines:

honeycomb psd (set to 100% tho i tweak and disable some selective colors / curves depending on the pic, like i said it can make night time pics look very bright)

pop! psd v2 (opacity set to 60%)

keep dark skins dark (set to 100%)

I want to ask, do you take reqwests? If (crossing fingers) you do, could you make a couple of cactuses or bushes for desert n'hood deco? There is totally nothing for my western scenery! Hi, hi! Hope you don’t mind me answering all public-like! :)

Yes, I am currently taking requests and I’m doing the requested things in uploads posted each Monday or thereabouts *cough*, interspersed with stuff I want to do for myself. I would love to make new hood deco, especially for deserts, given that I basically live in one and I’m kind of disappointed that everything that Maxis offered is stuff you’ll find in Mexico or the southern parts of Cali, Arizona, and New Mexico as opposed to the Four Corners area where I live. (Saguaro only grow in a very limited area with the US’s borders, after all.) BUT! I am not heavily confident in my ability to make such things from scratch. I WOULD like to try converting some existing lot-things to hood deco -- like, say, prickly pear that you could plop in groups to make stands of them and maybe some scraggly brown scrub and some mesquite and stuff. That, I can maybe do, perhaps even make some different sizes, if I get really brave. But to make something from scratch? That’s beyond my abilities, I’m afraid.

THAT said, I am working on a rather large rock-recoloring project, some neighborhood-visible lot-rocks and some neighborhood-rocks, including these neighborhood deco rocks that Veranka converted from TS3′s Island Paradise because they have arches and windows and such, with more desert-sandstone kinds of colors/textures. Because, really, deserts tend to feature interesting/bizarre rock formations and pretty-colored terrain more than they feature plants of even the succulent variety. So there’ll be that...eventually.

But I’m posting this publicly mostly to put bugs in the ears of people who know how to mesh for more neighborhood-deco rocks, but ones that are desert-specific. Like, big freakin’ mesas because trying to make them via modifying the terrain just doesn’t look right. Or hoodoos. Or big arches/window rocks. (The converted IP ones are kinda small.) Or balanced rocks. THOSE are things we really need for convincing desert neighborhoods.
