Now that everything was over life was back to normal, or at least what was normal for Hans. Henry was still trying to get used to this new life he'd barely even gotten a taste of before all the battles and adventures and travel. Life in a city, life knowing his real father, not having to live the humble life of a commoner. The more he thought about it, the more homesick he got for the life he no longer had. He was happy and wouldn't trade this new one for anything, especially Hans, but being back in Rattay and so close to where home once was..

The original plan was to just head out, apologize for disappearing once he got back. It was as easy as that, though that decision got harder to commit to the closer it got to when he'd planned on leaving. He knew most wouldn't question it, but he also knew it would worry Hans and he couldn't exactly leave him a note to avoid having to tell him in person.

"Sir Hans, would you mind if I took off for a few days? I... Have something I need to do."

Now that he'd gotten to know a little bit about Brabant, Henry needed a break from talking to their new eccentric companion. He gently pulled back on the reigns in his hand to slow the stolen horse he was currently riding down to fall into step next to Hans'. "Your new friend sure is... Something." He was starting to wonder if having been stuck in that room with the Frenchman was supposed to be the torture for Hans.

"So.. About what happened back there.." His expression softened as he looked over to Hans, voice kept slightly quieter despite the fact the other member of the party had witnessed their reunion first hand. "Was that a one time only thing or..?"

He cared about Hans, a lot more than he ever thought possible, enough so he would forget the kiss ever happened if that's what his lord preferred. He'd much rather get the chance to do it again though.

Hans was going to be mad once he figured out where Henry was actually going off to for a few days. He hadn't been happy when he originally left to go accept the duel with Erik so Henry couldn't bring himself to tell him he was chasing after a lead about the whereabouts of the man. The last loose end he had that needed tied up.

The closer he got and the more he thought about it, maybe everyone was right. He could've just dropped it. What was his beef with Erik anyway, just that he was associated with Istvan? He'd threatened Hans too though and it was his duty to protect him..

"You are not an easy man to find." Henry approached the man, hand instinctually on the hilt of his sword though he left it sheathed against his better judgement. Perhaps cold revenge didn't have to be the answer. What would getting himself possibly injured or dead solve? "We need to talk.."

There was a feeling of regret in the pit of Henry's stomach as soon as he'd offered to go on what was almost certainly a suicide mission. Somebody had to do it though if any of them were to have a chance at surviving the siege and it was easier to volunteer himself than to let any of the others lose their lives. Would have been even easier if it wasn't for that worried look in Hans' eyes. How was he supposed to say what might be his final goodbye to the man he loved? Even if he was doing this to give him a chance at making it out of this mess alive, it didn't make it any easier. He found himself once again regretting being such a do-gooder.

"Hans, I..." He shifted to gently place a hand on the other's cheek, his own worried filled eyes locking onto Hans'. "I promise I'll come back in one piece, you have my word." A promise he would do his best to keep, even if it wasn't exactly something he could actually control the outcome to. He had to try.
