Was reading an article about the lack of equality & diversity in the book publishing industry and came across this sad bit of info. "Publishers tend to prefer narratives about Black suffering..." The same is true for movies, tv/reality shows, music, and in actual life as businesses are created around the suffering/failures of Black people (pawn shops, title pawn, check cashing, fast food, etc) to reap the benefits of Black suffering, e.g. debt, substance addiction, unemployment, etc. The TV & movie industries- typecast Blacks as thugs, pimps, hoes, drug users/dealers, etc. Reality TV- pits Black people against each other and reward them when they throw shade, hate on/sabotage one another or face getting kicked off the show for "not having a storyline" Music- black artists make music promoting death & destruction geared at other black people and it's encouraged. This ish is crazy and goes deeper than many want to believe. 😔 . . . . #discrimination #racism #inequality #blacksuffering #mentalelevation #changethenarrative #knowtheledge https://www.instagram.com/p/Cbdo1ovJ17k/?utm_medium=tumblr
