I’ve been a bit down on Age of Sigmar after 3e kinda shifted away from the Nagash narrative with some very personal stories happening between the active gods at the time, to more gritty earthly stories that just never hit home for me. So, when I sat down to watch Blacktalon I wasn’t expecting much… and I’ll fully admit, the show put a big dumb smile on my face. The dialogue ain’t great, like worse than a normal BL novel by a long shot, but when Blacktalon gets zapped into Azyr in the beginning of the first episode- and you see Mr. Sigmar himself in the heavens as like, a celestial cloud-man, AND you get to see all the lightning, and the Deepkin woman was weird and freaky as hell?? It’s not great, but it is good, and way better than what I thought I was in for. I’m down for this, and while I’ll be kinda wishing Josh Reynolds didn’t have that falling out with BL so he coulda wrote a show for Warhammer+ (since he was and still is the best AoS author GW ever had,) I am gonna have fun with it. Which, you know, that’s what having a streaming service dedicated to your favorite hobby is for. Fun! And Blacktalon surly is that.
