thankful for being a #UnionMan today. Thank you to all my Labor Leaders out there for all you do for working and low income families. Thank you to all Essential Workers putting in that work everyday on the frontlines during this pandemic and before. If your voice is not heard and your rights are being violated on the job, form a union! You have a constitutional right to do so! If your workplace has a union, join today and get active! Help fight for yourself and coworkers to ensure BASIC human rights in the workplace! Happy Labor Day! Enjoy this day that someone fought hard for you to enjoy... #WeReady #BlackWorkersRising #LaborForBlackLives #BlackLivesMatterToLabor #CWA #CBTU #CBTUUnder40Leaders #APRI #CBTUVotes #BlackLaborDay202 https://www.instagram.com/p/CE2IAZ-s1nY/?igshid=2dc5rkp8usg1

#BlackLaborHistoryChallenge Before the night ends just want to say Happy EarthStrong to my Aquarius Sista, fellow hell raiser, my union President, my leader in the labor movement and one of my closest friends, Natashia aka President P. She is one of very few African American Women union Presidents, NATIONALLY! That alone is an achievement within itself in this pale, stale, and male dominated movement. We have shared so many ups & downs together and I wouldn’t change that for the world. So many laughs, so many tears. You have always been true to me and those around you, leading by example, holding yaself accountable, sometimes being the ONLY voice standing up for public sector workers and low income families all over the country, especially here in Missouri. Thank you for standing up when no one else will! Thank you for your guidance! Thank you for giving me that spark to help me become the leader i am today and I’m always here for you Sista. Love you Queen. Enjoy! #BlackWorkersRising #BlackLaborMatters #CLUW #OnTheBacksOfBlackLabor #BlackHistoryMonth #Under40Leaders #CBTUVotes #Be2020Ready #CBTUUnder40Leaders https://www.instagram.com/p/B8SpwJmJ6uo/?igshid=1nd3mqo21b649
#BlackLaborHistoryChallenge Lew Moye is the President Emeritus of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, St. Louis Chapter and International CBTU Executive Council 2nd Vice President. He served as President of the St. Louis chapter for over 35 years. He is responsible for helping make sure St. Louis contractors include minorities on all construction projects in the city, he advocated for the United States government to act during the rise of apartheid in South Africa, working in the free Nelson Mandela campaign, he was one of the first blacks, 2nd to be exact to be elected shop steward at Chrysler, one of the first blacks on the UAW negotiations committee for UAW international union. He helped organize members at Chrysler and UAW to bring charges of discrimination against the company and union back in the late 60’s & 70’s paving the way for minorities, including women to become members and leaders in their union. He was influential in helping establish a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday locally and nationally. He has sacrificed his freedom for the sake of worker’s rights many times, helping save the United Mine Workers pensions and fighting for low income workers to make a livable wage of AT LEAST $15 a hour. Mr. Lew took me under his wing after seeing me speak out after the Ferguson Uprisings about how much labor did not care about black and brown communities or our issues. Every since then he has been my mentor, showing me the ropes, helping me keep my kool, making sure I stay steadfast in this fight for black liberation, ESPECIALLY in the labor movement. I owe much of my activism today to his leadership and guidance and will always be grateful for the many talks and lessons learned. Thank you for all you do for our community! #BlackWorkersRising #BlackLaborMatters #BuiltOnTheBacksOfBlackLabor #CBTU2020 #BlackLabor #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistory365 https://www.instagram.com/p/B8DRsIdJ5LL/?igshid=1p2f34yldgla2
