Surprise!

Bladeweaver's demo has been (belatedly, to say the least) updated, bringing with it big expansions to Chapter 2, bugfixes galore and a small amount added to Chapter 3. Chapter 2 is still (infuriatingly, I'm sorry) not fully complete, but that WILL come in the next update, rest assured. there are lots of additions in here, especially for those of you who went with Sam to the festival and wanted to stay home. You even get to fight him! In a friendly manner of course. Mostly.

This isn't the update I was wanting to get out, but I see it as more of a promise; I'm still here, still working, and there's more to come soon now that I'm back in the groove of things. I also wanted to get one last update out before the year ended, and what better day for it than today? I'd also wanted to update how the codex works in this one, but just didn't find the right method to do it, so that'll be on the to-do list for next time.

With all that said, I'm going to get back to my usual Christmas activities (drinking and eating chocolate) and let you guys find out what's new and a little bit different in this one. I'm totally not too lazy to write a summary. Totally.

This scene from @bladeweaver-if was just too cute, so I had to draw it 😭🫶 It was my first time making a comic like this and I spent absolutely forever (FOREVERRR 💔💔) on it, but I’m fairly happy with the result!! Especially the last panel, that was fun hehe <3

I couldn’t find the scene in the text until after I had started drawing, so some things like outfits might not be lore accurate…;; reading it back, I also realized Lucas was only supposed to laugh “a bit,” but for some reason I had pictured a bigger laugh like this in my head 😞

Could you guys maybe help me find an IF. It starts with a guy who has a job to deliver a baby to some shady people and ignores the job and brings the baby to the doorstep of a mercenary group. The baby gets raised by a friendly old guy and his junior who is a wild gal. The game has their symbols as a wolf and a hawk. The MC later find a new friend and they later visit his home with MCs parents. Thats where the demo ended. I can't find the IF anymore but I really liked it. Please help. :(

Demo Update (11/03/2025)

Weaving day is finally here!

So, some caveats before I go any further. Parts of Chapter 2 have been omitted because I still wasn't happy with their quality, and will be readded in the next couple of weeks. I wanted so badly to finish the entire chapter in this update, but that's not feasible. I didn't want to delay a second time, either.

However. Chapter 2 is, now, technically, able to be completed! You will need to be on the route that has Sam accompanying you to the Festival, and make a certain choice in-game that I won't spoil (the game will tell you if the route you're on is unfinished, so don't worry).

Some small changes to content in the prologue and Chapter 1 have come in this update, as I'm continually refining prose and dialogue. A few little UI improvements are present, too. Wow!

We (finally, I know) begin Chapter 3 in this update, starting off with an excursion with Archer. I wonder what waits for MC at home, now that they're ten years old? More of this to come soon, promise!

Once again, I'll let you play through the content of the update, rather than summarising it here. As always, if you come across any mistakes or bugs (as hard as I've worked to remove them, they're certain to still appear, unfortunately) please let me know ASAP!

The first few months of 2025 have been a bit rough, all things considered. I'll be striving to improve my output in March and beyond. Until then, though, happy reading!

I'm Back!

Hello! So about a month ago I announced my situation and the reasoning behind my silences.

After getting my affairs together and working myself back up, I'm very pleased to say that I'm getting back into seriously writing. No ETA on an update yet, but I'll be very vocal about any potential delays or updates. No more silences 😆

Demo Update (07/12/24)

Bladewinter has come!

The demo has updated once again, with further additions to Chapter 2. This update comes in at ~86,000 words added, much of it being additional (optional) scenes for the festival portion of Chapter 2, though a few extra scenes have been added to the main plot of the chapter. I have removed one of the fair scenes, as I felt it wasn't very interesting or necessary.

This is the biggest update to the game yet, though I'd advise you to temper your expectations. A lot of the size comes from the variation I've included, although I'd love to get 86k words of pure plot down in 2 months one day 😂.

This is Chapter 2's penultimate update. No matter how long it takes, the next one will drag the game, kicking and screaming if necessary, over the finish line into Chapter 3.

In this chapter you can:

Visit five attractions at the Festival of Light in Sola with Sam. These are:

A fortune reader's tent, where you can discover an unclear future for yourself, and for your companions.

A light show, where you can witness the (abridged) retelling of an ancient legend of Phanol.

A strength test, where you can show off all of your eight year-old prowess. Sonia takes this one very seriously.

An archery challenge, where you can meet a very enthusiastic young archer and (if you're clever and skillful enough) beat her!

A tent of magical trinkets and displays, where you can choose a gift for yourself and (more importantly) meet a cat.

Optionally, you can now do the festival and duel route without Sam. Keep in mind that only one optional scene, the fortune teller's tent, is available here.

There is also a small addition to the main plot of the chapter, with the consequences of Ser Malack's attack revealed...

Well, at least it's the night here. The update has come!

This one, coming in at ~67,000 words, continues Chapter 2, taking us very close to the end--but not quite. If you play, you'll see why, and perhaps curse me for my tendency for cliffhangers haha.

If I'm right, this is the biggest update so far, and it's taken a whiiiiile. It shouldn't have taken as long as it did, and I'm confident my next updates won't take nearly as long.

Even still, I'm sorry to say this isn't a wholly complete update. There will be sections missing, such as much of Sam's gift-showing path when you visit his home (sorry! I just got too focused on other things and didn't want to half-implement the scenes. Next update, for sure!) and many of the fair events. I hope this at least encourages some replaying when the time comes, as you'll need to do with this update.

Also included are some small tweaks to the prologue (again, I love tweaking. It's a curse) and various grammar/writing tweaks to the rest of the game. Of course, bugs and other errors are liable to appear in the new content, and I'd really appreciate if you could point those out to me, either in DMs or by other means, such as in the Bladeweaver Discord in our bug reporting threads! The discord link is in my intro post, for anybody curious.

I'd also like to give myself a little round of applause for Bladeweaver hitting 20,000 plays on itch! That's 20,000 more plays than I was really hoping for haha.

I normally put a little summary of what you can expect to find in my updates, but have opted to leave that out for this one. You'll probably understand why soon enough.
