i think everyone complaining that season 2 is 'boring' because it hasn't had fionna physically leave her world may have missed a major point of season 1. can you imagine season 2 having her rush off to some other world right after season 1 had her realise there's a lot about her own world that's worth living in and caring about.

idk man i just think it's actually fine that we aren't just retreading old ground this time and are getting to see fionna deal with her mental and emotional issues instead of physical ones. also i'm starting to get real tired of people boiling the plot down to 'fionna tries to save a cafe' can you look beyond the very surface please.

the warrior cats graphic novel adaptation exists as a separate entity from the books to me. it removes the weird romance between spottedleaf and firepaw. it acknowledges sibling relationships that were never canonically addressed before. it lifts a lot of the ableism behind cinderpaw becoming a medicine cat. it's made by a married sapphic couple. they draw cloudkit like this:

really it's an improvement overall and i like it completely on its own. this is what the people deserve after putting up with over 20 years of misogyny and ableism.

hello fantasy high fandom here's my hot take from my twitter account

witch hat atelier is maybe the only piece of media where i can look at the way the fandom goes crazy about the male main characters even though it's a female-led story and think. yeah i understand.

this is not me saying i think it's okay that people give more love and attention to qifrey and olruggio than coco and the other girls, because that's atrocious and i hate the fact the most people who haven't read the manga don't even know coco exists. qifrey and olruggio aren't even my favourites.

however. i recently caught up with the series and man. i kind of get it. i get why the fandom goes nuts for these gay men and their issues.

i do still wish people would give coco and agott and the other girls as much love though. we need another chapter focused on them STAT.

you absolute fool the stakes of fionna's story are not 'she can't afford to keep her friend's shop open oh no' it's 'fionna struggling to save the shop is a big catalyst to her crippling self worth issues and unresolved trauma' and that is even enough with the ooo storyline imo. high stakes do not always have to be some big drastic life-or-death plot. sometimes high stakes in a story can be more deeply personal to the character and it doesn't devalue that storyline, even in comparison to another where a character is dying.

in fact, the storylines serve as a perfect parallel to one another. in fionna's world, she is pushing herself to the edge to try and help everyone she loves, because she feels like she owes it to them due to how much of her life she's spend not trying hard enough (in her eyes), and thinks that they will leave her if she keeps failing. in ooo, all of finn's friends are doing everything they can to help him because they feel they owe it to him for the fact that he's spent his entire life helping them (as well as just being loved by them, in the case of the main crew, but my point stand more for all the other citizens). and really, how exactly do you expect the stakes of fionna's story to be similar to finn's? the whole point is that hers is a mundane world, and the problems faced there will be more mundane. that doesn't mean they aren't still high stakes.

idk man if you can't see how a character having to deal with the fact that she feels like everyone she loves would be better off without her because she's 30 years old but still has little agency or control over her life and feels that she is actively hurting everyone she loves, while also grappling with the harm she did cause in season one, maybe you need to stick to cartoons for little kids instead of one aimed at adults.

also, the stakes of the ooo storyline honestly do lose a little of their height when like. we already know finn isn't going to die. yes, they're trying to trick us a little with having him get quickly aged up, but there are a lot of other parts in together again that don't match up with the timeline of &c season 2.

also also why does this guy just keep having the worst takes on this show. what is his problem.

the way this scene (and the whole nidothing situation in general) can EASILY be read as a trans/nonbinary coming out allegory makes me so fucking crazy. it's so blatant i have a hard time believing it wasn't on purpose. it's also gay as hell. i'm so normal about it (lying).

wildest thing about seeing vic in the dome for the first time (both in the main episodes and in the adventuring parties) is seeing this person who, as far as i've seen before now, is confident and outgoing and a wild card, is now nervous and kind of awkward in a way i haven't seen before, and thinking...oh my god they're just like me?

like, their nervous mannerisms and attempts at jokes only to fumble some of them; really just about every aspect of their behaviour, is suddenly so relatable to me in a way that i just don't really see in other on-camera 'celebrities' very often. and it's kind of comforting? like okay even this hilarious and charming comedian who does this stuff for a living can become just like my anxious ass when put into a situation they're not super familiar with.
