They had their own place but this halfway house wasn't terrible, it was definitely accommodating. The home was kind of alive? Admittedly it wasn't Viktor's biggest fan ever since he'd coughed up one of Harellan's loads onto the drapes, but it didn't seem like the house didn't hold that much of a grudge. For about a week or two before Christmas Viktor had been walking with more of a spring in his step; it was as if he'd been grieving one moment, and then the next he was fine. Viktor talked about his mother more easily now, he went to work without complaint, and when he baked oatmeal raisin cookies he was glad that nobody wanted them. More for him.
"So, movie later? Harellan and I never got to watch that new Thanksgiving movie and it's streaming now so maybe three of us could...?" Viktor had been working the hollowborn into just about every conversation that came up because well- he'd more or less latched himself onto Harellan and he had no interest in letting go. They'd gone from canonically on again and off again to on, very on, for what was probably the longest stretch of time yet.
