Who's ready for way too many P.E headcanons? No one? Well, you're getting them anyways. Long post ahoy but what else is new
Note: The Blake always gave me British-private school vibes, which conveniently also happened to be the kind of school that I attended back in Peru. Thus, Im taking many inspirations from my old school's system to inform my Blake headcanons. Also, if you see me mention fútbol, I'm talking abt football/soccer.
The Blake does have an indoor pool and coliseum
Yes, they do have specific P.E uniforms. They even have specific swimming uniforms for that part of the curriculum.
Sports classes (and extracurricular teams) are gendered at the Blake, and they are ofc separated by year
I feel that the Roller team takes too much time, so no one in the gang is currently in any team atm
That being said, some of them have been asked to form part of different sports teams throughout high school, namely:
Luna for gymnastics (she got asked every year she was at the Blake)
Gastón and Delfi for fútbol (she's surprisingly super good at it)
Ámbar for gymnastics and field hockey (maybe even volleyball)
Ámbar was actually part of the field hockey team for a hot second throughout middle school but later gave it up to focus more on rollerskating
So, since most of them spend the majority of their time skating, they are all canonically athletic with the exception of Nina (sorry, love).
However, I headcanon each of the Blake crew having a specific sport that they specifically like/excel at. I also think that - with a couple of exceptions - each of the crew would also have a sport that they are not too good at, or maybe even be bad at.
Because I'm a completionist and unhinged, I'll list a best/worst sport for each character under the cut (If I hc anyone being actually bad at a sport i'm adding an * next to their "worst" section btw):
Ámbar:
Best: Field Hockey (a good outlet for her pent up aggression, she's deadly in it) and Gymnastics (we've all seen how she skates, she'd be great at it)
Worst: Absolutely none, Ámbar won't let herself be bad at any sports. However, she doesn't really like Basketball nor Softball.
Delfi
Best: Fútbol. She has two younger brothers that she taught and practices with at home and she's a (secret, yet passionate) fútbol fanatic
Worst: Track and Field - Throwing in particular is not her strongest suit, but she's decent at jumping. She also hates running unless there's a football involved.
Jazmín
Best: Track and Field - Throwing. She's like, a weirdly excellent shot. Especially with the javelin and discus. The shot put though… well she’d be great if she wasn’t so concerned about her nails. Her concern for her nails tampers her performance in the sport tbh.
Worst: For the same reason of the nails - Basketball and Volleyball.
Luna
Best: Gymnastics. Have you seen her do the splits? How she balances when she's lifted in skating??? Yeah, she's the best of the Roller Crew at Gymnastics. The team's coach asks her a bit too often to join. It pisses Ámbar off (despite herself not even being on the team).
Worst: None really, but Basketball & Volleyball are sports she has to try extra hard at due to their reliance on height. (This girl would love Haikyuu tho).
Yam
Best: Volleyball and Basketball. She's tall, and beware cause she will use that to her advantage.
Worst: Gymnastics. (Solely based on vibes and that one scene in s2 of her stumbling on the balance beam).
Jim
Best: Volleyball. Yam and her form a deadly combo that's undefeated in their year. She's also been stated to be the fastest skater at times and I feel this translates to running too, making her excel even more at the sport.
Worst: Basketball. The height struggle continues. Yam protects her from being blocked when she can though ❤️
Nina
So she canonically does not vibe ™ with sports, and since her mom shelters her I genuinely think that P.E. is her least favorite subject and she's not very good at it (I feel you on this Nina).
Best: Softball. She's not great at the bat, but she loves it when she's assigned to one of the bases because then she doesn't have to do much physical exercise unless the ball is coming at her.
*Worst: Field Hockey. Too aggressive. She's seen Ámbar play back in middle school ... let's just say that every time they have to play this in P.E. Nina is very relieved that Ámbar is not in her year.
Matteo
Best: He annoyingly excels at almost all of the sports (with one glaring exception). He's especially good at Track & Field, especially running and jumping. He's also very good at Swimming and Gymnastics.
*Worst: Fútbol. He's like, unreasonably bad at it. He mentioned in S1 that he never got invited to play fútbol with the other kids due to always being the new kid and I don't think he ever got around to properly learning it. He's a bit embarrassed by it, but often plays it off.
Literally, the only time Matteo was decent at fútbol was in 10th grade when he accidentally scored a point against his own team (and even then it was by accident that the ball hit the net). Gastón wasn't mad, just disappointed.
Gastón
Best: Fútbol and Track & Field. He's a very athletic guy so he also excels at most sports. He's also a fútbol fanatic and strikes me as someone who would go running in the mornings (can't relate at all).
Worst: None, really. He's not very interested in Volleyball, though.
Ramiro
Best: Gymnastics. He's the best out of the guys at it. Ramiro's been in some gymnastics classes since he was a kid and it helps him in his dancing too. He's also very good at all areas of track and field.
Worst: None, but being in the same team as him in baseball and volleyball can sometimes be a bit hard since he wants to score all the points by himself.
I think I got all of them! If you read all the way to the end thank you❣️ Thinking abt Blake hcs is too fun, I'll probably do more in the future.
More Blake classroom scenes! I'm particularly talking about the older Blake group, whom we didn't see in any classroom scenes (Barring the workshops and Ambar in detention). But in general, it would've been fun to see more slice of life Blake stuff, especially in later seasons. Guess I'll just have to settle with headcanons.
Also, in my heart, this is something that 100% happened at some point:
