So I just found this in the drafts of my old email, the feels (I know it's choppy and has a huge hole in it but still DAMN! This was one of my first fanfics)
While hovering over the sink in her large master bathroom, Cricket glanced at her phone. 13..12..11..it counted down, when it reached zero she looked down at the marble countertop to find out her fate. She and Blake had talked about having another child but never really tried. They figured if it happened, it happened. A few weeks before was their anniversary, and they got very drunk. They had done this once before, the result was their daughter, Alexandra. Cricket took the box that the pregnancy test came in to see what the lines meant. On the test itself there were two thin pink lines, the box indicated that two lines meant it was positive.
Cricket started to call for Blake. First in a normal tone, then a second time in a tone that alarmed him. Thinking something was wrong, Blake ran into their room, only to find Cricket standing in the doorway o their bathroom with the biggest smile he has ever seen from her. Her bright blue eyes were spakling. "Blake" she said "we did it!". "What darlin'?" he asked. "We're gonna have another baby!" she replied. He could hear the excitment in her voice. She had the chance to actually be a good mother. With Alexandra, she felt she didn't do that great of a job.
A few months passed, and Cricket was happier than ever. Everyone was shocked to see how sweet she was while she was pregnant, she was normally so harsh. Blake and Cricket decided they wanted to know the gender this time around. With Alexandra they wanted it to be a surprise. They went to the doctor for a normal check-up and he told them it was a boy. They were overjoyed. They were going to be the perfect family.
That night they started discussing names. It didn't take long to find the perfect name they both loved. They decided to name him Dana Job. They wanted to give him a strong, religious name.
About two weeks before her due date things started to get stressful. Thankfully for Cricket, she didn't know about any of the things that were going on. At least she doesn't know yet.
He hit Aiden. That was the last straw. I don't care if he hits me, but not my son, not my Aiden Bozeman, not my little boy. I'm so glad he won't hit my little girl, Avery Cricket, because if he did, he would be dead right now. My children are my life and I need to get them to a safer place, away from him, my father. Sadly, my momma passed away from cancer a few months before Avery was born.
I have been packing little by little so he won't know I'm leaving. If he ever found out that I was leaving before we left, he would kill me and my children. I'm Ansley Caruth, I'm 19 years old. I'm originally from Dallas, Texas, but my momma and I moved to Tennessee 3 years ago for her chemo treatment. The only two people in Dallas who know I have children are my sister Cricket Caruth-Reilly, and her husband, Blake Reilly, who was like a father to me when I was growing up. But not even Bozeman, who is the father of my children, knows that they exist. I miss him, he is my best friend, always has been. I heard he is back from school, and he slept with my niece and hit on my sister, what is it with him and Caruth women? That I don't know, but what I do know is that he's mine and I can't wait to see him. I'm so excited for Avery to have her daddy at her second birthday, which is in about a week.
Around nine o'clock, dad finally left to go to the bar. Knowing him, he will be out all night, allowing the kids and I to get our stuff out of the house, in the truck, and on its way to Dallas. It took about an hour to load up the truck. The truck left around quarter past ten, as I put the last few boxes in my car. The kids and I left around ten thirty. As we headed to my sister's house, the truck went to Blake's ranch.
Once the kids and I were about an hour outside of Dallas, I called Blake to ask if we could stay there, and not to tell Cricket. If she knew about this she would freak out. Although he was still half asleep, because it was about one in the morning there, he agreed. When we got there, the kids were still asleep, so he helped me by bringing Avery upstairs. He said we could stay in the guest room for the night, until they could get us a more permanent room together. Around four in the morning, Avery woke up after having a nightmare. Realizing where she was, she went into Cricket and Blake's room and crawled into their giant bed.
A few hours later, around eight-thirty in the morning, Cricket woke up to the image of a two year old sitting next to her.
"Mornin miss Avery, and how are you today?" To which Avery replied with a yawn and "Mornin Auntie Cricket, I'm ok but grandpa hit Aiden". Cricket was horrified by this, so she told Avery to go wait downstairs while she came into my room. When she looked to see how bad it was, she saw not only that the side of Aiden's face was all red, but that i had bruises all over my arms.
While trying to understand why I would let anyone do that to me or my children, Cricket took Avery downstairs so that they could make breakfast together. Ever since Avery was born they had a special bond. The only other people Cricket had that bond with was momma and Blake. That's how Avery got her name. Aiden, on the other hand, is named after his daddy, who I hopefully get to see today.
She was so nervous. Her talk with Cricket only helped for a short time. Ansley locked herself in the room where she was getting dressed. The wedding was going to start in a few minutes and she wouldn't let anyone in. The only person she would talk to was her friend Aurora, from Tennessee. Blake went to get Rora who had come for this special occasion. Rora went and knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Ansley asked. "Just me." replied Rora. Ansley finally opened the door, but she had been crying. "I miss momma so much, Rora." she managed to get out before she burst into tears again. Rora just hugged her. "It's gonna be fine darlin, trust me. Bozeman is out there waiting for you. You love him and he loves you, your momma is watching over you right now. And she will be with you when you walk down that isle."
"Thanks Rora, you always know just what to say." Ansley replied as she wiped her eyes. Blake was waiting just outside the doors of the sanctuary ready to escort Ansley down the isle. "You ready darlin?" Blake asked. "As ready as I'll ever be" she said with a smile on her face.
As soon as the doors opened, Ansley started to cry again, only this time it was tears of joy, knowing that she was about to marry her best friend.
Ansley and Bozeman exchanged their vows, and everything went perfectly. At the reception, Ansley turned to tell Bozeman something but was interrupted. Everyone was coming up to congratulate them, so Ansley ended up forgetting to tell Bozeman some important news.
A few weeks after the wedding, Ansley still hadn't found the right time to tell Bozeman her news. She figured she would tell him when she and the kids got back from the zoo. Bozeman wasn't going with them because he had to work at his dad's dealership.
Ansley and the kids got back to Cricket and Blake's house just after three in the afternoon. They were normally smiling when Ansley and the kids we over, but this time they looked sad. Cricket had even been crying. Ansley asked what was going on but all Blake said was that she needed to go with him. The kids stayed home with Cricket.
The whole car ride Ansley kept asking Blake where they were going. Finally when they pulled into the parking lot of the local hospital, Ansley knew something wasn't right. "What happened?" she asked, not knowing who was hurt.
Still Blake said nothing. When they got up to the floor that they were looking for Ansley saw Sharon Peacham sitting in a chair next to a hospital bed with Zach comforting her. McKinney was in the waiting room.
Right then, Ansley tried to run to the room, she knew it was Bozeman in the bed. Blake held her back. "He was hit from the side by another car when he was driving home from work. Doctors don't know what is going to happen" he said. Ansley broke down not really caring who saw.
Sharon and Zach saw that Ansley was there so they let her have a few minutes alone with him. She just sat in the chair next to his bed and started to pray. About five minutes later she took his hand and started to talk to Bozeman, even though she knew she he might not be able to hear her.
"Bozeman, you need to wake up. If not for me, than for a chance to be there for your children. You have a chance to be there for your baby from the beginning. Bozeman please, I can't let another baby grow up without a daddy. I'm pregnant."
As soon as she said that, she felt him squeeze her hand. He had yet to open his eyes up again, but she knew he was going to be fine.
