He can't stand the idea of her getting hurt. What I love the most is they can be enemies or not, the thing he will always do is protect her 🙂‍↕️.

Had to throw my hat into the ring of first tree on Erid. I think both of them would absolutely be breaking down. Grace would cry for a month every time he saw it and Simon would spend like 90% of his time tending to it. ( I think Rocky would be very scared when both his humans burst into tears when they first saw it because happy tears and sad tears are very similar)

I also like to think the eridian scientists would have kept the project secret for years (especially from Rocky because they just know he wouldn't be able to keep a secret from Grace) while they made sure the tree would actually make it past being a sampling, hence it's size when they first see it. Eventually when Grace and Simon pass away their headstones are sitting beneath the absolutely ENORMOUS willow they helped tend to. I think only Simon would be buried there and Grace would donate his body to Science (not my original idea but I can't remember who said it first).
