One of the looks I’m working on! Currently calling this one the loneliness dress. This is a really early sketch of it I did using Procreate on my phone (drawing with fingers is hard...), so it isn’t going to be exactly like this. I need to sketch it again in more detail.
The dress was inspired by these two paintings. The first one is Sustain VII by Clara Lieu, the second is Passing Through by Lesley Oldaker.
A major goal of my Punisher collection is to try and capture all of the emotion in music and lyrics within clothing. I find that the easiest way to do that is using color and texture, kind of like painting. These two paintings remind me of the lonely/empty quality some of PB’s songs have. I associate them with Smoke Signals or Savior Complex, specifically. Trying to portray feelings of emptiness or loneliness using clothing has been a challenge.
This dress would probably be made of a heavy off-white silk, with black tulle or netting layered on top and tacked down to create these squiggly shapes. I may need to use wire to shape the material. Again, I need to do some more detailed sketches of this piece. I’m excited to keep working on it though! I think this will be the first look I end up making physically, so it’s been on my mind
