We need to always put the #HeartBeforeBeat. ・・・ I was surfing YouTube this morning and came across a video @drumteacher76 posted a few years back. It was a video about how people online are so negative towards beginning musicians. I remember when I was 11, (a year after I started drumming) I threw a drum solo up on YouTube. It was terrible!!! I could barely keep time; let alone come up with a cool solo. Two days after it was up some dude put a nasty comment on my video. I deleted the video and was ready to give up on drumming completely! I told my drum teacher what had happened and asked him why I wasn't as good as I wanted to be. He told me that every musician goes through it and getting better depends on how you handle yourself after that. You could quit and never touch drumsticks again, or you could use that negative comment as a spark to want to work harder and achieve more. Well I didn't let that dude whom I didn't even know stop me. I've worked so hard and given it everything I've had over the last 10 years and now look where I am. I'm endorsed by two drum companies and currently working on a third. I've played in so many cool places and met so many cool people. Never give up on your calling. Pursue it. Grow it. Thrive in it.
