Verdana's Infected Transformations
Because of years of training, Verdana has learned how to control her transformations into her blaster form at will
What these transformations normally look like is this; Her soul is wrapped in black vines which typically only rest on her soul loosely, causing no harm despite their existence.
However, when she begins to transform, these vines tighten causing her to feel a tense pressure in her chest. As the vines grow tighter, they grow thorns which stab into her soul and inject a form of poison into it, eventually enveloping her entire soul, turning it black when the transformation finishes.
Every moment of this process is extremely painful for Verdana and causes her blaster form to become feral
Verdana has learned to control this by delicately infusing the vines with her own magic through very careful precision. This way, when the thorns inject her soul, it's using her own magic to trigger the transformation, making it painless and helping her keep her mind when she transforms.
However, there can be moments where a transformation is triggered anyway; when this happens Verdana can wrap her magic around the vines and thorns as the "poison" is injected. It doesn't stop the transformation but it does help her at least keep her sanity as she transforms. It's still a bit painful but doesn't hurt as much as an uncontrollable transformation.
This technique require a lot of concentration for Verdana and depends on her being able to keep her focus. If she gets distracted, there's a higher chance of the transformation being harder to control
