WEEK3 w/ Jan Vahl - 05.12. 8am - 7.12. 9:30pm
Jan Vahl deals with the collection of fragments and assemblage in his practice. In a similar way to field work, he picks up on excerpts from everyday life, reduces them to a single detail and uses them to develop drone files. This is done by a kind of symmetry, as a small section of the file/material is arranged into a ‘wave’, which he assembles with other cut-generated drones and reacts with/on each other. For FERMENT : MUTTERKORN, a sound stratification will be developed, based on which archived material is combined with sound material that can be found in the space. It is layered over the entire period of FERMENT : MUTTERKORN, similar to a heap as in mining.Dramaturgically, Jan will be guided by the body rhythms of the blue whale and pick up an organism that is in transit but nevertheless operates as a host. The cosmopolitan way of life of blue whales has a metaphorical relevance. During the residence, a text will be produced, which combines in a public ritual with the sound stratification.
