The grass was growing, in the middle of winter. In a coat, my dad frowning, said God never gives man a smile every season.
We were born to frown for one of two reasons: sometimes parents have to bury their children, and God the Father has killed every single one of his. I thought about a dad looking in his son’s tomb, well God is a dad but he’s a Drill Sergeant too.
I begged for my father’s grass to be as green as the leaves covering Eve in the Garden of Grief, as I thought about her smile, the second one ever made.
God's Sun and dad's grass shared the same color as a month or two passed.
