Review Breakdown: Bleach Chapter 608 ブリーチ: Ichibei's Paintbrush of Doom! Paint it Black!!!

On this week's chapter of Bleach, Ichibei going all "Horror Story" on Yhwach when using Ichimonji and the whole world gets a makeover due to this battle. Here's my spoilerific review of Chapter 608, "Darkness from the Blackest of Black".

What a beautiful day! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and...OH MY GOD, WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!?!

Surprise, Ichimonji!!!

Behold, my Paintbrush of Doom!!! But can't sense a reiatsu from it.

Is it a blade? It is a brush? You tell me, but it's time for your ass to get beaten

The battle resumes...yet again!

Ink Splatter! It's like an octopus just inked himself

By the way, the last pic was a squid, not an octopus. You're welcome, Animal Experts!

The battle resumes. Man, look at that blade!

Squirt ink equals can't hit you, but hit your reputation? Looks like Yhwach needs something to boost his self-esteem 

What's that? You were saying something? Go ahead, Talk! 

See this blade? This blade has no name

You see, a blade with no name and power can't hurt me. You're screwed

And this is me, stealing your powers

And Yhwach summons the "Sankt Altar", the Holy Altar

Uh...Nope. That was Ineffective. Beside, you did already stole my power, and you can't make it yours. Talk about copyright, am I right?

Wait, ink is coming out from both the Shinigami and Quincies? Looks like Ichibei is painting the whole world Black!

And then it's over!

Reaction/Thoughts: What do I think about this week's chapter? Well, I think it's pretty amazing. We got to see what Ichimonji can do, saw its abilities, and paint the whole world into the color black. Man, Yhwach is losing it out there. Although he's the antagonist for this arc, but let's face it, he's needs some serious help right now.

So Ichimonji takes the ink out of the Shinigami and Qunicy, dead and alive, which transfer into Ichimonji, is it me or maybe the ink resembles something else? Like maybe reiatsu or energy, or something like that? I don't know, I don't think a zanpaktou would do that. I give this chapter...

...a 9 out of 10. That's it, tell me what you think?

The sword drawing and utilizing all the black to remove names and words is as much creepy as it is fascinating. It's a bit like redacting, I'd like to think. No name means it has no power. That bit fits in with the underlying mythology that spoken words have power (see all kido and attacks being inherently stronger when their name is invoked/the full verse is spoken), and by redacting those words into nonexistence takes away that power.

Plus you have to admit the pun of "the pen is mightier than the sword" at work here is hilarious.
