Summary:

Renji decided that the members of his squad were too slow to react and their reflexes are horrible (read: normal). They need better training to become aware of their surroundings. How better to accomplish this than with Squad Eleven's 'Special Brand of Care.'

Now he just has to get his captain on board with his unusual methods.

AKA

Renji sneak attacks people. The eleventh can NOT be caught unaware. Byakuya is so done with this man (but also kind of loves his antics).

Summary:

Abarai Renji grew up in violence and survival, as many did. He, however, came away from the experience with an ache in his teeth and tremor in his hands that sang of blood.

Zanpakto were meant to be reflections of a soul, not its other half. Yet Zabimaru is just that.

Grimmjow Jaegerjaques did not fit in among the other Arrancar, much less the remaining Espada. They were happy to exist as high thinking sentient beings, to cast off the animal of their hollow forms. He couldn't do that.

Renji tries to explain his friendship with the Arrancar to his Taichou, but it seems beyond outsiders, no matter how much they care, to understand what they share - this thing that sings in their blood and howls in their bones - without seeing it. How fortunate, then, that a the newest madman aiming to collapse the Three Realms thinks himself a master of beasts.

Renji and Grimm bond over a shared an inner animal side and instincts. Zabimaru is so not a normal Zanpakto. Byakuya is a softie who wants to understand and help his Lieutenant. Ichigo is the comic relief (aka Grimmjow's scratching post). Newest megalomaniac turns people into beasts to control them and it - shocker - doesn't work on Renji and Grimm.
