here is my first use of blender non-officially!!! I am kinda happy with it I guess? I mean I know I can do more but I really just don't want to. I'm also very tired from learning blender as its not really hard yet more just....work??? Like I already have the art basis that I need its just DOING IT that I guess makes it hard. Anyway yeah! This is from the official blender website "rain" and also found this using Crashzune's blender course from youtube.... That it all!!!!

YIPEEEE the decals have been (somewhat) figured out!

they're basically the scuffs and scratches on top of the bg that gives it a little more texture/personality.

subtle, but effective.

I have a 2 part script that goes along with the map importer--pain in ass but much less so than setting it up individually. There are like-- 300 or so individual decals in the hideout map alone.

note to self: check back on the script later--adjust bsdf to below--seems to fit best for now

I had one hell of a time trying to figure out how to make it work on inclined surfaces, but i got it eventually. (just flipping the Y rotation after the fact LOL)

so get this, I was combing through my shaders and reading files to check back on stuff I skipped and I just found out that Korsica's couch has a normals map. Which is incredibly amusing to me because when cranking up the settings it makes this 2D couch have very realistic wrinkles.

It's certainly there in game--can see it on the side of that pillow down there.

I just need to choke the values a bit and shift the normal maps sideways to get those particular wrinkles placed.
