Angel and Iceman might be my favourite X-Men who aren't even X-Men half the time. I love their friendship and their relationship and their bond. These two have been friends since 1963, and they were inseparable until at least the late 80s. They were X-Men together, Champions together, Defenders together! They're a duo, and you really shouldn't split them up. Bobby and Warren work best as a unit. I can't accept criticism on that statement, especially not since they've oddly become characters I'm just really attached to. Perhaps because they show up in so many things I like (the original x-men and the defenders, for one thing).
Cyclops is my favorite of the X-Men in terms of relatability, but Angel and Iceman are the two who I think changed the least from their original 60s selves. Jean Grey became a goddess and died. Beast grew fur and claws and fangs. Cyclops married a clone of jean grey in one of the stupidest storylines ever! But Angel and Iceman stayed those two kids who always had each other's backs. The kids who had nobody but each other, because everything else in their life was in flux. They lost their home with the X-Men, but they still had each other. They kept their powers and personalities almost 100% identical, no matter the decade.
Until Warren became Archangel because of more idiotic writers, Bobby and Warren stayed the same. In the 60s, 70s and 80s, these guys were always the same. Partners in heroics, the two mutants who avoided the drama of their peers. I adore these two.
