Testimony time!

I’m just so filled with joy right now that I have to express what happened today!

A little bit about me- Like most university students, I’m pretty broke, but God has always provided all my necessities. By his grace, I’ve always had a roof over my head, a bed to sleep in, a shower, clothing, and nourishment. So though I don’t have much money, you can see that I’ve been beyond blessed! 

So today I was cleaning my room when I decided to make a blessing bag to give to someone in need. I have received freely from the Lord, so I know that I must give freely as well! I know that there are many many people out there that don’t have the bare necessities. I put in toiletries, hygiene stuff, food, water, anitseptics, clothing, a little money + some other things they might need. I also put in a ministry packet that summarizes God’s plan for man, and a small bible.

I tell you, the very minute I finished the blessing bag, I got a text from my uncle who I haven’t heard from in a while telling me he put $300 into my bank account. Coincidence? I think not.

Whenever I have chosen to give away things of mine, God has later blessed me in some way or another. Praise be to him always! Just the feeling of being used by God is a wonderful blessing already!

Ich hätte eine Frage zu den Blessing Bags, ich find die Idee nämlich super! Aber hast du schonmal welche verschenkt, freuen sich die Leute dann? Hab nen schönen Abend!

Bisher habe ich schon vier verschenkt und die Reaktion war jedes Mal total positiv, mit einem Mädchen in meinem Alter habe ich mich danach noch ein paar Minuten echt gut unterhalten, das war echt toll. Es lohnt sich wirklich für beide Seiten :-)Danke, dir auch!

Before I go to sleep I need to share this: here's a blessing bag for people in need. I find the concept pretty interesting actually even though I'm sceptical. Specially for my country: when you give something usefull to homeless people they tend to throw it away b/c they want money to buy cigarettes and other sh*ts... Which is disappointing and frustrating. Anyway, this isn't that way every where in the world. There are people out there who actually like this kind of attention so I felt like I should share this so people get to know that and contribute in their own way.

So, not knocking the idea and thoughtfulness associated with this act and the potential good that may come out of it...but that "blessing bag" post I keep seeing seems really condescending to me...

Ramadan Special: Blessing Bags

I've neglected this blog for a while! I was being so good while I was in Chicago, but I transferred law schools so I've been busy! I made these blessing bags during Ramadan but never got around updating the blog...but, better late than never!

Unlike the suburb of Houston where I grew up, you can actually see homelessness in downtown Chicago. It's sad not only because it's a reality to hundreds of thousands of people all over the nation, but giving money is actively discouraged for fear that they will spend it on drugs/alcohol/etc. (a valid reason).

Fasting for almost 17 hours a day, with no food or water, is a very humbling experience. So it didn't sit well with me that the solution for this is doing nothing, especially during Ramadan when you're supposed to be giving to the needy. So while on Pintrest, I saw this great idea of making blessing bags! It's just a baggie with essential things you can keep in your car to give out whenever you see someone in need!

It's so easy--just gather things you want to include in your bag. Here are things that I got:

Put these in a ziplock and keep them in the car to hand out! 

I also typed out the ingredients from the food packaging in case someone was allergic to an ingredient along with a little message that basically said I was fasting for Ramadan and hoped this makes their day better.

I handed out all of the bags I made and it felt great to give something out rather than sitting in your car at a light, trying to avoid eye contact with someone you know could use your help! : )

Hi everybody!(or anybody would reads my stuff!)

I am über excited to announce that I am getting involved in the community! If anyone is like me, it's a little hard to get involved around my community! But recently two of my friends asked me to do charity runs with them! One friend asked me to do relay for life, which I'm excited about because even though I have asmtha I won't let that stop me from helping people, I might be the only one walking but who cares! my other friend asked me to do walk for water, which I'm excited about too!
